Diseño de una red iODN con tecnología FTTH para la Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones CNT-EP en la ciudad de Guaranda

Abstract

A study of optical communications systems, including all the assets and liabilities involved, and the main characteristics of GPON, iODN and FTTH technology, which is used in network design networking, is done. Additionally the advantages and disadvantages of using optical fiber as the transmission medium are compared and the features required by a provider in order to offer Triple Play services are analyzed. The current state of the access network that CNT-EP has in the city of Guaranda, as well as the type of technologies they use and the packets they offer are presented. The public which the company intends to serve is also analyzed in order to determine the number of potential customers and the ability to sue the network, as well as both active and passive equipment required. Then the equipment is selected based on a comparison between two manufacturers. A calculation of the optical transmission power needed as well as the path that the optical fiber will follow together with the location of each and every one of the elements involved in the network, is determined. A referential financial budget for the initial investment in the project is presented.
