Abstract

This project includes the design of the wireless LAN of the institute Sagrado Corazón de Jesús matriz Tulcán to provide an access speed in the order of Gbps. Initially, it is performed a study of the basic principles of wireless networks, as well as the description of the IEEE 802.11ac standard, last amendment to the IEEE 802.11 family of standards, which will be used to give a solution to the required network. In the design it is performed a projection of users of the network for a period of five years, classifying them according to the role they play within the institution for implementing VLANs. Additionally, a traffic analysis is performed to determine the capabilities required by the network, and Site Survey tests are performed to determine interference and select the location of the access points resulting of design. Finally, the technical characteristics required in the equipment needed for the implementation of the network are specified, the specifications of equipment from two manufacturers are compared, and the costs incurred by the institution are determined for implementing the solution of the wireless network with each manufacturers analyzed.
