Abstract: This work aims to study the production of a solid biofuel by hydrothermal from rice husk char. First a characterization for rice husk, then the process is divided into two stages: the HTC process and densification. In the HTC process, the temperature effects and reaction time were evaluated on the yield, calorific value and energy efficiency for to get a hydrochar, for which a 32 factorial design and the temperature was the variable whose effect is greater, it was found that the performance decreases, while the calorific value and increases energy efficiency values optimization were 210 ° C and 10 min and these conditions energy efficiency and performance values were 69,05 % and 90,40 % respectively. The calorific value increased by 33,00 %, going from 15,36 to 20,42 MJ/kg, moisture content decreased by 17,00 %, increased the fixed carbon content and decreased by 15,00 % the amount of ash. Hydrochar pellets were produced using a hydraulic press operating at 140 °C and 100 kgf/cm2. The densified samples had the following properties: high density of 1,32 g/cm3, water resistance or hydrophobicity of 15,2 %, compressive strength of 33,38 MPa, durability and impact resistance of 99,50 % and 100,00 % respectively. Finally proceeded to design a plant for solid biofuels according to the capacity of 1 500 kg/day , the VAN and TIR were of 6 197,83 USD and 9,00 % respectively.
