Implementación de un piloto de servicio de telefonía IP para los estudiantes de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional

Abstract

This project describes the implementation of a beta IP telephony service that aims to benefit students at National Polytechnic School. The EPN’s ICT Office provided the technical support, which was necessary for implementing this thesis, by hosting the IP telephony solution on one of the institutional servers, configuring its network equipment and IP PBX, monitoring network traffic, and executing a test stack to ensure the proper functioning of the service. The aim of the project is to implement a server that meets the functions of an IP PBX, which use will be exclusive for the students at EPN, that integrates with the institutional IP PBX in order to grant the communication between them. Each student will possess an extension number which will be set in a softphone application, needed to access the service, and that will be installed on the user's mobile device. Students at EPN will benefit from a free IP telephony service which will allow them to communicate with other members of the polytechnic community. In addition, the project will promote the use of the institutional Wi-Fi infrastructure network.
