Zusammenfassung: The current project includes the development of an environmental assessment through the collection of relevant literature about the different factors influencing the watershed of Chamachán river to determine its conservation condition. For this purpose a temporary characterization of the river was conducted by analyzing macroinvertebrates in the dry (October) and rainy season (May) in 4 sampling points along the runway. Physical, chemical and biological parameters were measured during the dry season. From the analysis and processing of these results the ICA and BMWP index was obtained to determine the quality of the water. From the data obtained it is possible to conclude that the Chamachán river is moderately polluted but near the parish seat is heavily polluted due to the discharge of wastewater and the different productive activities (agriculture) of the Mariano Acosta community; however this has a good self-purification capacity that allows the development of aquatic life. The study of coverage soil type was made by digital maps of the years 1982, 1992, 2002 and 2013, this analysis determined that populated areas and their surroundings have conflicts due to inadequate land use that disturbs the quality of this resource, however, the moor is in good condition and forest areas are being recovered. Through a SWOT analysis, it was established that the watershed has tourism potential and water and wildlife resources conservation, so that integrated management strategies should be focused on optimizing the environmental services that it offers.
