Abstract: This project presents an analysis of the conventional protection schemes and protection schemes proposed in the state of the art for distribution networks that contain dispersed generation (GD), applied to the feeder 27C of the San Rafael Substation property of the Empresa Eléctrica Quito (EEQ). The protection schemes proposed in the state of the art is selected three alternatives to discuss its possible theoretical application to the feeder under study. After analyzing each selected option, it is chose the one that best adapts to the system to maintain the central Los Chillos, which acts as a dispersed generation, in operation even after the occurrence of an event of short circuit in the feeder. For the study of coordination of conventional protections, the primary 27C is modeled in the computational program of DIgSILENT PowerFactory with information provided by the EEQ. Similarly, are modeled the protections that exist in the feeder and performed a short circuit study whose purpose is to facilitate the determination of the required settings for a coordinated operation of the guards.
