Cuidado Infantil y Participación de la Mujer en el Mercado Laboral de Ecuador

Abstract

In recent years, the female labor participation rate have risen in Latin America and the world, this situation have been joined with the responsibility of the mother above the childcare and household task. The research aim to study the relationship between the child-care in the early childhood and the mother’s employment, for which consider the case of Ecuador, where the childcare programs have not been analyzed as a social policy of the gender equality. In order to estimate two Multinomial Logit Models and a Probit, we use the Living Conditions Survey database 2013-2014. In general, the results evident, the childcare public or private is less used, women prefer to use the informal childcare, however, the majority of mothers who are employed, use childcare programs.
