Estudio geológico de la Arenisca U Inferior (Formación Napo) para un proyecto de inyección de agua en un campo al norte de la Cuenca Oriente, Ecuador

Abstract

The present study was carried out with the purpose of knowing the structural configuration and the quality of the reservoir rock in the Lower U Sandstone, by using seismic information, well logs and available core studies. No clear evidence of failure in the Lower U Sandstone was observed, however subseismic faults may exist. The structural maps in time and in depth, elaborated in this study differ, the maps in time show us two well-defined structural highs with an W-E orientation, but according to the structural maps in depth, the structure extends to the north of the field, showing that the field studied could be the southern periclinal of the major field in the north, and the W-E orientation mentioned above is less obvious. In the studied field the reservoir rock in the Lower U Sandstone has good quality and good lateral continuity, its inferior stratigraphic section UI1, has the best sand quality because here the clean sand electrofacies has a greater proportion.
