Abstract: A general review of the LTE (Release 8), the wireless channel and a model of joint allocation of resources of MCSs (modulation and coding schemes), RBs (resource blocks) and power of each RB in the downlink of an LTE network was carried out, by means of which it was determined the capacity of the LTE carrier in 2 established scenarios. The project presents a study to establish the approximate capacity of an LTE carrier, theoretically and experimentally, for the theoretical study, it is used the formulas and parameters of the LTE technology, and for the experimental verification, the N7624B signal studio for LTE / LTE -advanced FDD and the signal generator and signal analyzer equipment available at the Research Laboratory of DETRI (Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Networks) of the National Polytechnic School. In the N7624B software, certain parameters obtained in the simulation are configured, and the configured signal is distorted with different noise levels in order to measure the EVM (vector error magnitude), and to determine if the measured value is within the limits required by LTE technology.
