Modelo de exposición y mapa de vulnerabilidad del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito

Abstract

In this Project a seismic vulnerability analysis is performed which is composed of an exposure model and a vulnerability map of the existing buildings in the urban area of the Metropolitan District of Quito. For the elaboration of the model it was applied the methodology developed by the GEM Foundation within the framework of the South America Risk Assessment project. The exposure model contains a catalog of structural typologies with their structural characteristic, and it was found in the city from the visual inspection carried out on ten thousand residential buildings; and also the amount of total buildings, obtained by correlation with the number of dwellings existing according to the last census of population and housing realized by the INEC in 2010. It was also calculated the replacement cost per m2, and it was obtained the total value of the cost and the construction area of the urban area of the DMQ. Finally, a vulnerability classification is proposed for the structural typologies of the city, according to the Vulnerability Table proposed by the European Macroseismic Scale and, the distribution of classes throughout the city is presented on a map.
