Zusammenfassung: In the present work it was determined the antibacterial activity of a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material with iron oxide particles bounded to ceftriaxone antibiotic. From the chemistry co-precipitation method, the pH effect was evaluated at 10,00, 10,50, 11,00 and 11,50, and post – drying temperature at 25°C, 50°C and 80°C, in order to obtain particles with magnetic character. The size, shape, crystalline phases and magnetic behavior of the particles were characterized. PVC films were formulated with the particles synthesized in concentrations of 1,5% and 3,0%, to evaluate the antibacterial activity. The antibacterial activity of each of the materials formulated was determined by agar diffusion method with strains of E.coli and S.aureus. The main results showed that magnetic behavior is affected by the increase of pH and not by the post-drying temperature. Through characterizations, average size particles between 123,5 nm and 231,9 nm with superparamagnetic behavior were observed. It was established that the increase of the concentration and particles with smaller size, improved the inhibition, and for that reason it was selected the material of PVC with concentration of 3,0% of iron particles synthesized at pH 11,00 and 25°C of post-drying temperature.
