Abstract: In recent years, the operational management indicators of San Francisco Hydropower Plant have lower indices than Agoyán Hydropower Plant, despite the fact that both hydropower plants have similar operating conditions as they work in cascade one after the other using the same water for electric generation. It is considered that this difference lies in that the systems of San Francisco Plant are designed for almost clean water, currently this condition does not happen because the increment of sediments in the Pastaza River as a product of the eruptive process of the Tungurahua volcano. When performing an analysis of the overall efficiency of the process, which is an indicator that according to TPM allows to evaluate the operational management of a company through its availability, efficiency and quality, it is recorded that the average of this efficiency in San Francisco Plant in the period between 2010 and 2015 is 50.16%, this value is 34.48% lower than the one recommended by the TPM, which is 84.64%. The present article aims to describe the procedure and analysis performed for the calculation of the overall efficiency of the process and the results obtained based on the application of Total Productive Maintenance in the analysis of the operational management of San Francisco hydroelectric Power Plant.
