Zusammenfassung: The level of redistribution of a country is determined by circumstances at the aggregate level, such as inequality, the political orientation of the government and the level of wealth of a country, and at the individual level, determined by preferences for redistribution that affect the size of government And vary from country to country. Among the factors most studied at the individual level is income, and an inverse relationship is expected when compared to support for redistribution. However, economic theory and empirical evidence suggest that income is not the only determinant of a redistributive stance, nor is its effect expected. For example, low-income people may not support a redistributive policy because they expect to rise socially and economically in the future and would be disadvantaged by paying more taxes. This paper analyzes support for redistributive policies in Ecuador. Data from the Latinobarómetro are used for the period 2007-2013, and probit models are estimated. The results suggest that the expectations of future mobility and the perception of past mobility would be determinant for the support to the redistribution. Other factors such as education and religion would also affect the redistributive position of Ecuadorians.
