| Abstract: | This research aims to analyze the socioeconomic factors that influence adolescent pregnancy in Ecuador. The analytical part of this paper examines vast literature focused on adolescent pregnancy. From this framework, we derive some hypotheses that relate the household overcrowding, the education of the adolescence and the age of the parents influence with the probability of adolescent pregnancy. For the analysis, used the information from the 2006 and 2014 Living Conditions Surveys. Thus, a solid estimate was obtained, and show that the household overcrowding and the age of the head of household influenced in adolescent pregnancy in Ecuador. |
| Description: | Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar los factores socioeconómicos que influyen en el embarazo adolescente en Ecuador. La parte analítica de este trabajo examina vasta literatura enfocada en el embarazo adolescente. A partir de este marco, se derivan algunas hipótesis que relacionan el hacinamiento de hogares, la educación de la adolescente y la edad de los padres con la probabilidad de embarazo adolescente. Para el análisis se utilizaron los datos provenientes de las Encuestas de Condiciones de Vida 2006 y 2014. Así, mediante una estimación probit se obtuvieron resultados sólidos que muestran que el hacinamiento de hogares y la edad del jefe del hogar influyen en el embarazo adolescente en Ecuador. |
