Abstract

The knowledge of the amount of water that circulates through a bed of paramount importance for the development and existence of the human being. This information allows, for example, to foresee flows that without proper control can lead to disasters and thus human and economic losses; the suitable control and distribution of flow makes it possible to optimize the production of food in a farm. In short, the quantification of this hydraulic parameter allows to modify and improve the environment we habit. The general objective of this Word is to generate a practical gauging guide, in which information can be found on suitable methods to measure the flow in open channels, whether natural or man-made, as well as ensuring that this activity can be carried out with basic and low cost instrumentation.
