Zusammenfassung: The present is a technical study about of the Net Metering scheme around the world, to obtain a broad perspective and to see the possibility of implementing it in Ecuador. From the different policies in nations that have this system, through the technical limitations, dimensioning and installation process, to the economic and financial analysis for its implementation. The present work has been done considering the generation system a photovoltaic system, but it can be done with any form of distributed generation. The analysis of policies and global panorama of the system has allowed us to propose a model of regulation of this scheme for Ecuador. The analysis of the technical limitations, dimensioning and installation process has been based on norms and experiences of other countries. The economic and financial analysis has been carried out for different types of customers according to their energy consumption, considering the different types of Net Metering and variables such as cost of the system with and without customs tariffs, variation of electric tariff and investment subsidy. Finally the HOMER software has been used, to compare obtained results.
