Zusammenfassung: The intense seismic activity registered in the area between 2013 and 2015 motivated a new investigation to have a better understanding of the volcano over time and its current behavior. The present work describes the geological evolution of the volcano, based on field work, and in the analysis, study and interpretation of the petrographic, geochronological and geochemical characteristics of its eruptive products, mainly consisting of large lava flows. The geochemical study allows us to characterize the Chiles rocks as continental arc rocks with calc-alkaline affinity that do not present any adakite signature and have undergone mainly fractional crystallization processes. Chiles volcano consist of two major lithostratigraphic units CHILES I (54-69 SiO2 wt. %; 600-270 ka) and CHILES II (59-70 SiO2 wt. %; 75-20 ka), each one covers three subunits which have been affected by erosion of different glaciations. Within CHILES II there is also a landslide scar in the form of horseshoe on the N side, which marks a destructive event in the history of the Chiles volcano and generated the Debris Avalanche Deposit
