Aplicación del diseño de experimentos en el desarrollo de un nuevo producto para la empresa EMFALU

Abstract

This study was to use the design of experiments in the development of a new product for the company EMFALU. The company is dedicated to the sale of wooden boards. Interviews were conducted with customers. Along with the experience of the staff, it was determined that 52% wanted to have a product with several applications and 25% preferred to be easy to use. With this information and the use of the first matrix of the QFD, the matrix of QUE's vs COMO's was generated, obtaining the quality characteristics that allowed to satisfy the requirements expressed by the clients; this was used to arrive at the concept of the product with which ideas were generated, it took the one of greater weight, 5.64, to establish the supply of the boards through to offer a piece of furniture. Next, it used the 2k factorial experiments design to analyze the possible combinations of the two levels at which they change and perform the runs to achieve the output variable results, wasted. The use of the software Minitab 16 was obtained the Pareto diagram that allowed to define the behavior of the factors and their interrelation. The combination that resulted in a 17.31% wastage was obtained and with this the final specification sheet was prepared, as well as the list of materials to be used. The new product was complemented by an economic analysis of the approach, resulting in a positive NPV value of US $ 2,287.48 and a 26% IRR that showed that it was profitable and the investment would be recovered carried out, therefore, the proposal of the new product should be implemented by EMFALU preparing the commercial plan for its launch and commercialization.
