The influence on the mechanical and thermal properties when incorporating recycled rubber’s particles as reinforcement in a thermo-plastic polyurethane matrix was analyzed. Two influence factors were analyzed: the particle size of recycled rubber (840, 500, 177 μm) and its concentration (10, 20, 25 wt%). This composite material was obtained through extrusion and injection processes. The test pieces for the trials for traction, tearing, hardness and abrasiveness were obtained from a process called die-cutting under the ASTM D412-16, D1004-13, D2240 and INEN 1924 standards, respectively. The water permeability analysis was performed by a methodology proposed by another researcher and the resistance to hydrocarbons was done using the ASTM D471 standard. A thermal characterization on the material was done through a thermo-gravimetric analysis, and it was performed some SEM microscopy to observe the adherence of the matrix and the reinforcement. On the other hand, in order to analyze the obtained results and determine the factors that influence on the mechanical properties, a statistics analysis was performed. The results show that incorporating recycled rubber particles modified the mechanical properties of the material; improving the elasticity and hardness properties, but decreasing traction, tearing and abrasiveness resistance; however, water permeability, and hydrocarbons solubility weren’t affected.es_ES
