This project aims to design and build a mechatronic exoskeleton for the rehabilitation of the thumb. The project begins with the collection of information on thumb exoskeletons already developed, such as IOTA, HX and i-CREATe. In addition, thumb movements are studied with the help of the KINETIKO collaborating organization as a part of the PVS-2017-011 outreach project in the EPN. For the development of the design, the concurrent engineering methodology is used, which ends with the manufacturing of the prototype. The prototype has two links with curvature to perform flexo-extension that is combined with a link for rotation to obtain the opposition of the thumb. The shafts are manufactured with AISI 1018 steel, together with the conical gears manufactured with resin. Also, the mechanism of the prototype can used in both hands. The prototype is driven by means of an electronic system composed of the Arduino Mega microcontroller and push buttons for the manipulation of the rotation of the gearmotors. The final part of the project includes the cost analysis of developing the prototype together with the evaluation of the prototype based on the technical specifications proposed in the design phase.es_ES
