Título: Optimización de la concentración del óxido de titanio en esmaltes porcelánicos opacos y acabado de la superficie esmaltada

Resumen: Se optimizó la concentración del dióxido de titanio desde 0,05 moles hasta 0,15 moles en la elaboración de cinco esmaltes porcelánicos opacos y mejoró las características estéticas de la superficie esmaltada con pigmentos elaborados mediante óxidos inorgánicos de cobre, cromo y manganeso. Para ello fue necesario inicialmente esmaltar piezas de acero con un esmalte E-1, el cual fue formulado en base a un trabajo anterior. Sin embargo, en dicha formulación se empleó como materias primas, reactivos químicos de grado analítico, se usó 0,05 moles de óxido de níquel en lugar del óxido de magnesio con la finalidad de mejorar su adherencia a la superficie del acero proveído por ECASA. Las condiciones óptimas de maduración para el esmalte E-1, fueron de 820 ºC y 10 minutos; además, soportaron bastante bien a las resistencias de choque térmico e impacto. En la formulación inicial de la segunda capa se introdujo el dióxido de titanio en lugar del níquel, posteriormente se hizo nuevas reformulaciones en base a los resultados obtenidos luego de la cocción del esmalte aplicado sobre la superficie de las placas, hasta que se consiguió una mejor opacidad con 0,15 moles de óxido de titanio (esmalte E-II-4). Las condiciones óptimas de cocción para el esmalte E-II-4, fueron de 780 ºC y 7 min, a las mismas que el esmaltado presentó excelentes resultados de resistencias al choque térmico e impacto. La cocción de las placas pigmentadas con los óxidos mencionados se la realizó a las mismas condiciones determinadas para la segunda capa.
