Abstract .- In this work, phytoremediation, electrokinetic remediation and soil washing techniques was evaluated to determine their effectiveness in the purification treatment of sulfide mining tailings contaminated with heavy metals such as Cu, Zn and Pb. In this study were used sulfide mining tailings from the mining area of Ponce Enríquez, which were fitted with a solution of ferrous sulfate and chloral salts of Cu, Zn and Pb before starting the treatments. The three techniques of remediation were evaluated at laboratory scale to determine their effectiveness in terms of metal removal by applying the test Toxicity Characteristics Leaching Procedure (TCLP), cost of the technique and remediation time. With phytoremediation, the concentrations of Cu, Zn and Pb decreased by 76%, 45% and 93% respectively using rye grass pasture for 60 days with an average cost of $ 720/t. Applying a constant voltage of 10 V, electrokinetic remediaction achieved a removal of 87% Cu, 87% Zn and 93% Pb with an average cost of 870 USD/t. Finally, with soil washing the concentrations of Cu, Zn and Pb decreased by 94%; 88% and 98% respectively using 0,20 M EDTA solutions with constant agitation of 600 rpm and an average cost of 820 USD/t for approximately 30 hours. Therefore, it was determined that the best treatment was soil washing using extracting agents. The preliminary economic analysis for processing four weekly tonnes of suldie mining tailings contaminated with Cu, Zn and Pb was performed with an investment of 131 464 USD, the project would have a TIR of 29% and a VAN of 174 326 USD, for an operating horizon of 10 years.
