Abstract .- In this project, we present the development of the OPF-ML application (Optimal Power Losses – Minimization Losses) which minimize the active power losses of an electric power system (SEP), maintaining, at the same time, all variables of the system between their normal operating limits, using the primal-dual interior point method and Matlab programming. At first, we expose the mathematical models of each element of the system, and establish the objective function to minimize, the variables of the problem, and their constraints. We use matrix formulation and sparse matrix in the program design. In case of using the OPF-ML to the National Electricity Transmission Grid (SNI), it is required to use the NMR-Power Factory interface to obtain the data of the power system from the SCADA system to DIgSILENT. Furthermore, we obtain the system’s data from DIgSILENT in text archives *.txt through DIgSILENT programming (DPL). OPF-ML reads, processes information, and executes an OPF with the objective function mentioned before. Finally, we do a validation test using DIgSILENT to prove that the results obtained with OPF-ML are correct, an analysis of the control variables of the system, an analysis of voltage profiles, and an economic analysis of the results.es_ES
