Abstract .- Enkador has a daily production of yarns 2500-3000 kg / day, this depends orders, raw materials and logistics company. The water used in the spinning process is well which is softened before being employed in that process. For the dyeing of nylon acetic acid (nylon Fison) is used plus igualante (leucofor), at a temperature of 80 ° C, in terms of acetic acid dyed polyester and a dispersant is used at a temperature of 130 ° C. In both cases for the light-colored dyed it takes about 30 min and dark colored dyed in 45 min. Also in light colors more detergent and caustic soda is used in washing, by the factors mentioned wastewater reaches the WWTP with high temperatures, basic, grease, solids and foam filling Ph, without proper treatment and download the river without complying with the standards established in the regulations. Why the redesign and improvement of WWTP with implementing units and determination of optimal dose by jar test is performed.

Moncayo Mena, Pamela Fernanda
Abstract .- According derived data from the census of 2010 more than 28% of the Ecuadorian population does not have access to water through the public network, and more than 46% does not have access to an adequate sanitation (sewerage or septic tank).
Part of the problematic implied in the provision and distribution of drinking water is the high cost of the execution, operation and maintenance that a conventional water treatment plant has. This is the most used technology nationwide in order to purify water.
With the objective of providing drinking water to the population, currently the municipality of Pto. Lopez has started up a plant with technology of Ionic Hydroxygenation that allows to perform potabilization processes without the use of usual chemical supplies, so it would be environmentally friendly and more profitable. With this background, the following study focused on evaluating and comparing the plant with technology of Ionic Hydroxygenation versus a plant of conventional treatment, in the following aspects: water quality obtained, performance of the plant, and costs of execution, operation and maintenance.

The birth of a river originates in the high parts of the mountains, in the wilderness thanks to its geography, flora and soil type allow accumulated water to flow to the lower parts by gravity, a process that occurs in the top of the Atacazo and Guagua Pichincha Volcano that come together to form the Machángara river, south of the city of Quito, Pichincha Province. Today, increasing urban occupation progresses rapidly saturating the space of the city, transforming the river Machángara in a site unprotected and contaminated. The Metropolitan District of Quito, so as scenically recover sections of Machángara, has designed several linear parks, spaces built without interrupting the natural course of its channel, example is the linear park "Las Cuadras", located in the sector Quitumbe south of Quito, it goes across a stretch of river Machángara, stretch with nothing acceptable, especially when entering organoleptic characteristics, but these features improve to complete their journey and leave the park. With this reference it is to prove or disprove the existence of evidence of self-purification of this section by a physico-chemical analysis of water.

Vaca Nuñez, Henry Nelson
Montalván Samaniego, Santiago Javier
The treatment plant wastewater NONO parish is currently treating a flow rate of 1.04 l / s in proper operating condition which was verified by analyzing each operating unit. In preparing the operation and maintenance manual the following topics were developed: the description and analysis of operational and equipment in order to be able to view the current conditions of the plant units; within this chemical and bacteriological physical characterization of the influent, effluent and operating units, which allowed us to determine the correct efficiency of the wastewater treatment plant compared to the permissible discharge limits freshwater body of the Ecuadorian environmental legislation in force it was made. The development of this manual allows operators assigned to the WWTP NONO correctly perform the operation and maintenance of equipment and operating units, with this to take preventive and corrective actions to reduce working time, increase their effectiveness, avoid damage and operational equipment and improve the quality of performance of operators units. The final product is a manual that should only be modified when substantive changes are made to the operating units of the plant.

The water is an irreplaceable vital element and necessary for life. In our country one of the most important treasures that we own is hydric resources; that is why we must learn how to take care of it and appreciate this gift. On the basis of what was previously measured the project was born to recovery the artificial lake of the Ignacio Flores park in the Latacunga city, for which some objectives were scheduled and have been acomplished determining metodolgicly the steps to follow with what proceeds inmediately and a plan is implemented in our water and lakeweed samples, in order to make different analysis and characterize the water. According to the analysis made during the Project it was determined that a minimun dose of calcium carbonate and a longer use of the sink which is inside of the lake, these will work like lakeweed growing inhibitors, but this hand in hand with an integral management of the park which implies a suitable management of gardens, infrastructure and waste disposal to prevent the entry of organic matter, garbage in the lake; also aditional proceses were stablished as contigents in pro to get better the Project results.

Hidalgo Tamayo, Luis Alfonso
The knowledge of the amount of water that circulates through a bed of paramount importance for the development and existence of the human being. This information allows, for example, to foresee flows that without proper control can lead to disasters and thus human and economic losses; the suitable control and distribution of flow makes it possible to optimize the production of food in a farm. In short, the quantification of this hydraulic parameter allows to modify and improve the environment we habit. The general objective of this Word is to generate a practical gauging guide, in which information can be found on suitable methods to measure the flow in open channels, whether natural or man-made, as well as ensuring that this activity can be carried out with basic and low cost instrumentation.

Bonilla Acurio, Mercedes Magalli
This research had as main objective to design and implement a stainless steel water fountain with a filtration and disinfection system, in the Escuela de Formacion de Tecnologos (ESFOT) of the Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN), to provide water to people that work and study in this area, and thus, reduce the generation of plastic bottles. The project began with the sampling of the drinking water supply and its physicochemical and bacteriological characterization. Considering these results the filtration system was designed to remove chlorine, suspended solids and fecal and total coliforms. Next, the water fountain was constructed, considering access for people with special abilities and the average height of the user. Finally, the place of installation of the fountain was selected based on accessibility location, visibility and closeness of the consumers. The water quality of the drinking fountain is suitable for human consumption, and complies with legal regulations. With the implementation of the water fountain in the ESFOT, the students, and other users now have access to quality filtered water. The development of this work resolve a need and can be used as a model to implement in other areas.

The present study was carried out at the drinking water treatment plant located at the community of Illuchi in order to determine the above conditions that work this treatment plant, through visiting the area, laboratory analysis and data collections through in situ measurements. With the information collected, we did a maintenance manual for the a plant it would be possible to carry out an operation of the plant in a more adequate way and to serve as a guide for eventualities that could be found, the workers who are performing these works are not qualified to handle and dosage the different chemicals added to the water for its treatment nor to perform preventive and corrective maintenance to the units of the treatment plant, which resulted in a malfunction and therefore an undesirable production of drinking water. This is certainly a potential risk for the habitants of this community that could cause some diseases of water transmission if corrective measures are not taken.

Aplicación de un Sistema Perfilador Acústico Doppler (ADCP) Para la Obtención de Perfiles Hidrológicos y de Caudal de Ríos en el Distrito Metropolitano de Quito
Cruz Palacios, Roberto Danilo
The determination of the flow of a natural source of water, such as rivers and artificial channels, is vital both for water works and to maintain the life of rivers. As for waters contaminated by discharges of sewage from industries and homes to these channels, it is essential to obtain the flow for the evaluation, characterization and management of the water resource. The use of the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler System (ADCP) has become a very useful tool when obtaining data on flow rate, current speed and velocity profile, draft, profile of the cross section of the sampling point as well as other parameters. In this particular work the flow rates and several profiles were determined for different rivers located in Quito, due to the technology used by these devices, more accurate results are obtained in comparison to conventional methods such as windlasses. It was determined that the presence of solids in large quantities in the water is a problem for the profiler due to the fact that light beams cannot pass through waters that are too turbid, while the variability of the current velocities throughout is observed throughout the cross section of a river represented by its velocity profile and the difference of the flow in rainy seasons and in months where there was no rain.

The present thesis project covers the development of a temporary characterization through physical, chemical and microbiological analysis of the main irrigation channel in Tumbaco using seven sampling points in order to determine if there are elements in high concentrations that could harm the crops, as well as, the people who consume these products. The study started with a visit to the field site with the purpose of defining the main contaminating elements that deteriorate the quality of the water of the irrigation channel. The parameters were analyzed both in situ and in accredited laboratories. Furthermore, the results obtained from each sample were evaluated under various standards that describe the criteria for the use of water in agricultural activities. Technical recommendations were given to reduce the contaminating elements that exist in the waters of the irrigation channel in order to comply with the permissible limits established by the regulations. According to the results obtained, the waters of the main irrigation channel of Tumbaco were found with a high content of total and fecal coliforms due to the discharges of wastewater and the agricultural activities that are carried out in places near the channel.

Reisancho Alquinga, Fernanda Lucia
Rivera Paillacho, Karen Dayana
The current project focuses on an environmental assessment of the wastewater treatment plant of the rural parish Belisario Quevedo ((WWTP-BQ). There was carried out a socioenvironmental diagnose surveying the people of influence. This helped to determe the main economic activities and conditions that resulted in the installation of the WWTP-BQ. At the same time, a sampling plan was elaborated, which contains techniques of collecting samples and the parameters to be analysed both in-situ and ex-situ. The ex-situ parameters were analyzed in the “Laboratorio de Docencia de Ingeniería Ambiental de la EPN”, where they were assessed the physical, chemical and microbiological characteristics of the influent, effluent and reservoir. These results were interpreted and compared with the “Texto Unificado de Legislación Secundaria del Medio Ambiente (TULSMA), Libro VI, Anexo 1, Tablas 3, 5 y 9”. Additionally, there was developed an environmental record which collects all the information obtained during the elaboration of the project. It consists of an applicable legal framework, project activities and identifies aspects and environmental impacts generated by the WWTP-BQ towards the area of influence. It was realized an environmental management plan to prevent, control and mitigate the environmental impacts generated by the WWTP-BQ.

In this project, it was carried out the validation of the gravimetric method to determine total suspended solids in natural and wastewater. This process is fundamental in laboratories certified under ISO/IEC 17025 and let to obtain reliable data, for this it is essential to continue with a methodology. In this particular case, the method consisted on fine-tuning, method control, and analysis of variance, calculation of the uncertainty and definition of control parameters. with the results obtained it was determined that at the level of 15 ppm the coefficient of variation exceeded in 5% the one required by the laboratory, the uncertainty must be less than 30%, for this reason, the concentration of 15 ppm was discarded from the validation. With the mentioned data, it was established the work range that complies with the set one and the specific test procedure was written with its acceptance and rejection criteria.

An “Evaluation of the treatment alternatives for wastewater of the Food Processing Plant P.L.A.C. of ‘Los Pollos de San Bartolo’ briefly presented a description of the problem and its analysis, as well as the justification and its objectives, as well as the specific ones that guide the investigation. When this phase ended, the problem was analyzed theoretically to know all the scientific approaches of the subject, as well as the municipal laws and regulations, and state environmental laws that deal with water management and its subsequent elimination. It also analyzes the method used to carry out the corresponding study to clearly identify the phenomena and drawbacks that have arisen precisely for the treatment of wastewater and then explore the tools and techniques used to collect information, at the scene of the events. The results were analyzed and interpreted carefully to know the causes of poor wastewater management in the company. Based on these results, at least four alternatives were considered, opting for one that was the most appropriate. All this led to the conclusion of final conclusions and recommendations, which clarify the relevance of the study, the analysis of the results and the improvement proposal.

The current project focuses on the design of a system of treatment and recirculation of wastewater generated from the washing of vehicles of the lubricadora "Job". Using the sampling plan, the measurement was performed of the Flows dumped by the lubricadora, as well as the collection of samples for the characterization of physical and chemical parameters of the wastewater generated, to compare with the “Texto Unificado de Legislación Ambiental Secundario (TULSMA), Libro VI, Anexo 1, Tabla 8”, determining the quality of the effluent being discharged. The results obtained from the water characterization showed that the parameters: oils and fats, active tense agents, chemical oxygen demand and suspended solids are outside the limits established in the corresponding regulations, The development of the design of the treatment and recirculation units. The development of the design of the treatment units, based on the principle of operation of separation of pollutants through gravity. In order to preserve the water resource a recirculating system was designed for the treated wastewater, including the vehicle washing process again. Based on the design of the treatment and recirculation system, the cost-benefit assessment of the project was carried out, considering the environmental and economic aspects that will be generated in the event of its implementation.

Water analysis is based on the determination of various parameters that are part of its own characteristics. This project is focused on the validation of the BOD analysis since it quantifies the organic matter in water, throughout the consumption of oxygen used in the metabolism of aerobic bacteria in a period of five days. The validation of a method consists in the study and manipulation of each one of its stages. It was done through experimentation in the fine tuning, where the specific characteristics of the method and the inoculum were determined, ensuring an adequate medium for the BOD5 analysis. The validation parameters were established by means of the statistical evaluation of the results obtained in the ANOVA, where it was obtained a percentage of recovery (% R) 100 ± 15%, a Coefficient of Variation of Repeatability (% CVr) <5 %, and a Reproducibility Variation Coefficient (% CVR) <5%. Once the validation was completed, it was found that the process complied with the previously established parameters, for which the method for the analysis of the rivers Guayllabamba, Monjas, Machángara, San Pedro and Pita was implemented to know their status with respect to the regulations applied. in the Metropolitan District of Quito, where the excess of organic load in the first three rivers was evident. Nowadays, the laboratory of the District Secretariat uses the specific procedure for the analysis of waste water and natural waters, following the parameters obtained from the validation.

Landi Paucar, Maribel Estefania
The present project covers the development of a technical assessment of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) of a dairy industry located in the city of Quito. The purpose of the evaluation was to determine the efficiency of the WWTP in general, its treatment units: grease trap, dissolved air flotation (DAF) and 2 bioreactors, in addition to the quality of treated water based on compliance with national current and relevant regulations in order to establish recommendations. According to the results of the evaluation, the WWTP in general reaches high percentages of pollutants’ removal efficiency: biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5) (81.5%), chemical oxygen demand (COD) (85.4%) and total suspended solids (TSS) (83.5%). However, these percentages are not enough for the treated water to comply with discharge limits. Therefore, general recommendations were established, such as: to implement preventive maintenance programs, lab equipment, to train operators periodically, and to regulate the optimal dosage of coagulant based on jar tests. These measures may contribute to improving the units’ performance and; therefore, the quality of the effluent.

Tatayo Shuguli, Jorge Luis
Due to the increase in the usage of analytical methods in water analysis and in order to obtain reliable results, validation of analytical methods is carried out. This guarantees that the final results obtained are accurate. The present project focuses on the validation of analytical methods to quantify hexavalent chromium and sulphates by using UV-visible spectrophotometry in natural waters of the Metropolitan District of Quito. For the development of the methods, fist the optimization was done to point where all the variables of the method were adjusted to obtain acceptable answers, then the validation was executed by monitoring several parameters such as: selectivity, linearity, range of work, limit of detection and quantification, accuracy, and uncertainty obtaining a veracity of 85% ≤% R≤ 115% for all levels of concentration in addition to a Repeatability coefficient of variation ≤5%, Reproducibility coefficient of Variation ≤5% and an uncertainty of less than 30% (k = 2) for all concentration levels. Once the validation was completed, the analytic methods were used in the 5 rivers that the Environment Secretariat monitors: Pita, San Pedro, Machángara, Guayllabamba, Monjas, as well as samples that arrive at the laboratory, where it was found that the amount of hexavalent chromium and sulphates is well below the current environmental regulations.

The system implemented in a sink that is located in the ESFOT allows to save 30% of water that is wasted daily by the students, this excessive expense isn´t perceived by users, but it´s very important when talking about sustainability. At the time of washing hands, the person experiences the impotence of wanting to open the key with soapy hands, this´s the causes the water to circulate during the time of lathering. The time the key remains open is when the vital fluid is lost, and through the saving system is about reducing the unconscious waste of water. The system consists of a push button located on the floor , that while being pressed by the foot of those who want to wash their hands, operates a solenoid valve that gives way to the water and cuts off this flow at moments when the button stops being pressed. This is how we achieve a great saving of water, we also managed to avoid direct contact of washed hands with faucets that may contain germs. The fundamental objective of the project is to achieve a saving of the water resource from an inapreciable rationing, leading the university towards a sustainable development.

Implementación de un Filtro Lento de Arena para Mejorar la Calidad de Agua en la Escuela Comunitaria Fiscal Chimborazo
Mallamas Miño, Esteban Andrés
Páliz Alcívar, Marjorie Priscila
The implementation of appropriate technologies for the purification of water in rural areas has become today a usual practice in developing countries, among which are the slow sand filters. In the present work, the construction, operation and maintenance of a slow sand filter is detailed, as well as a chlorination system through the use of a chlorine doser due to erosion. The filter treats a flow rate of 0.06 (l / s) with a filtration rate of 2(m3/m2 *day). The proposed treatment of filtration and disinfection has a removal efficiency in parameters that were not within the maximum permissible limits for water for human consumption, which are: 100% total coliforms, 100% fecal coliforms, 76% apparent color, total iron 77%, total solids 24% and turbidity 80%, it is important to mention that the removal efficiency increased after the maturation period of the biological layer in the SSF. Finally, the use of this alternative treatment at home is recommended for rural areas where there is no potable water system.

The objective of this project was to evaluate the physical, chemical and microbiological quality of water stored in eight tanks inside the National Polytechnic School (Escuela Politécnica Nacional, EPN); based on compliance with the MPL (maximum permissible limits) of the standards INEN 1108 and TULSMA Libro VI Anexo I Tabla 1, where the requirements for drinking are established. The evaluation began with an inspection of the plumbing facilities with the help of General Service staff and workshops. All points possessing a tank were visited and it was determined which ones were suitable for analysis. The water from the distribution network of DMQ and storage tanks were sampled and characterized. After obtaining the results of the analysis the WQI (water quality index) was evaluated concluding that it is in an excellent range and therefore it is suitable for human consumption. Of all the analyzes that were carried out residual free chlorine is the only parameter that does not meet the standard in some tanks. Although the results of the evaluation show that the water supplied in the EPN complies with the standards mentioned above, an improvement plan to avoid the possible direct or indirect contamination was formulated. It contains the steps to implement the preventive and corrective maintenance for pumping systems as well as recommendations found during the visual assessments and sampling.

Vela Latacumba, Jessica Elizabeth
The project focuses on the characterization of El Rosario river’s waters, and it has as purpose determining the main polluting sources that deteriorate quality of them and analyzing a possible way to remediate it. It started with a visit to the study place with the aim of defining the main polluting sources that deteriorated these waters. As a remediation measure, three biofilters with Vetiver Grass (Vetiveria zizanoides) were built using sand, gravel, and grit as layers to treat wastewater. Different analysis were carried out every week in order to determine the concentrations and percentages of removal with parameters such as: Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), Oils and fats, and total solids. Finally, the results obtained from each filter were evaluated using different national and international standards that describe criteria of water quality for use in agricultural activities. According to results after the filtration, the removal efficiency was approximately 60%, so these waters could be used for different activities such as irrigation.

Fuel Mendoza, Kenia Leticia
Gualotuña Barahona, Dayana Carolina
The present project consists of the preparation of a manual for the management of the solid waste generated by “Camal Metropolitano de Quito” in the slaughtering process. The research methodology was developed through the evaluation of the current situation related to the generation of solid waste through field visits and data collection of each of the slaughter processes. The main sources of contamination in the slaughter were identified and the characterization was made regarding the type, weight and volume of the waste generated in a given period. The residues were quantified in tables of record where the quantities generated with a monthly frequency are collected, and it was determined that the solid wastes of greater generation were ruminal content, manure and seizures. After several observations, it was determined that several wastes are produced during the slaughter process, however for this project environmentally adequate measures will be proposed for those that represent the largest volume and for which two alternatives are proposed for their management. In the end, a basic manual for solid waste management was prepared based on the previous evaluation carried out with technical and environmentally viable characteristics.

Caiza Ortiz, Luis David
Vivas Albarracin, José Andrés
In the present integrating project, the development of a combined sewerage system for the Chaupimolino neighborhood, stage II from Pifo, takes shape. Its population does not have all the basic services, it is the case of the system of evacuation of its wastewater. Not having this service causes problems of water stagnation and therefore health problems, especially in the child population. With the present proposal it is expected to improve the quality of life of the residents, through the application of techniques and methodologies learned in the university.
For the execution of the plan a specific methodology was proposed, where the following steps were considered: information collect, topographic survey, revision of the applicable regulations, execution of hydraulic and hydrological calculations, preparation of a technical report, drawing of the plans of the system, estimation of the referential budget and finally an operation and maintenance manual was established to optimize and extend the useful life of the system after its design period.

The management of solid waste in the large cities of the Latin American countries shows a problem of importance due to the generation volumes and the effects caused on the environment and in the health of the population. In the case of Lloa, the rural parish of the Metropolitan District of Quito, 40% of the residents have a non-hazardous solid waste collection service. The 136 (one hundred and thirty-six) residents of Chiriboga neighborhood, located in this parish, do not have this service; their waste is buried, burned and thrown into the Saloya River. It was determined, during the studies, that 70.75 kg / day of solid waste was generated by houses, businesses and an educational institution in the Chiriboga neighborhood. 75.4% belongs to organic waste, usable 15.1% and 9.5% unusable. This information served for the elaboration of a proposal for a comprehensive non-hazardous solid waste management system for this neighborhood. The components of the system focused on: polices, communication and awareness in addition to the technical component. The strategies in each of the management phases involved the identified actors, in order to obtain a participatory design according to the reality of the neighborhood.

Sarabia Panchi, Daisy Gabriela
Universities seek greater environmental care through their environmental policies, in this sense, the report of the ecological footprint and the application of good environmental practices contributes to university environmental management.
This essay develops the calculation of the Ecological Footprint (HE) of the Technological Training School (ESFOT) of the National Polytechnic School of Ecuador for the year 2016.
The methodology used refers to studies carried out in other international universities and in Ecuador. Among the previous calculations considered are mentioned: the carbon footprint, the construction area, energy consumption, water consumption, paper consumption, the mobility of people and the generation of waste in the ESFOT; including secondary information and through the application of surveys to students, teachers and administrative personnel, the Ecological Footprint is calculated, which measures the degree of sustainability of the ESFOT considering the bio capacity and the natural resource capital of Ecuador.
With the data obtained from the HE and considering the district and national environmental regulations, a manual of Good Environmental Practices applicable to the ESFOT is prepared, this application requires the total participation of the ESFOT population.

Bunce Castellanos, Cristopher Alexander
This project intends to evaluate the quality of water supplied from the Urauco neighborhood of the Lloa parish. Since the limited number of people in the sector does not have public sewage systems that guarantee sanitation. It is important that the inhabitants can have the confidence and the guarantee that the water resource is apt for its consumption. Additionality, the resource has to be safe for the health of each inhabitant due to the right to access to basic potable water. On this matter, the processes that are carried out allow the fulfillment of the maximum permissible limits according to the established in the norm of potable water for its use and human consumption (INEN 1108).
We visited and conducted water quality studies in the parish to ensure that the water resource of this neighborhood is suitable for consumption. A walking tour was made to observe the possible faults, leaks or any rupture of the pipes, valves or accessories that supply the water resource to the residents and that are causes of any possible infection that the population may have. To complete this task some samples, were collected before and after the disinfection process (if any), before the meter and in the homes to guarantee that the water has a good quality so it is possible to ensure that the service is optimal and reliable for its usage in productive activities and human consumption.

Guashpa Caizaguano, Jenny Carolina
Simbaña Piñan, Jessica Verónica
The present graduation project was carried out in the Pifo parish in the neighborhoods: Chaupimolino, Sigsipamba, Palugo, El Inga, and La Cocha. The water resource is supplied to each neighborhood through a Water Administration Board, through field inspections in each point: source, storage tanks, prior to the entry of an user Physico-chemical and microbiological analysis was able to evaluate the water quality of each board.
Once the results of the analyzes were obtained at each sampling point, they were compared with the maximum permissible limits of Table 2 of TULSMA (book VI, annex 1) and the Ecuadorian Technical Standard INEN 1108 Potable Water. Requirements.
Currently, all the boards have the basic infrastructure to perform the chlorination and distribution process, but certain irregularities were found and it is recommended to give a solution to avoid future inconveniences in water quality.
Based on the results obtained from laboratory and field analyzes, it was established that the water quality in all the boards is within the acceptability range of the Unified Text of Secondary Legislation of the Ministry of Environment (TULSMA), Book VI, Annex 1, Water Resource Table 2 and in the Ecuadorian Technical Standard INEN 1108 Potable Water, Requirements.
Although two of the chemical parameters are outside the maximum permissible limits, they do not present a health risk. Finally, certain solutions are recommended to reduce the values of the parameters that are outside the range of acceptability.

Villa Coque, Jeniffer Adriana
This project was developed in order to validate the analysis procedure for the determination of oils and fats in natural and residual waters for the IAMQ Research, Analysis and Monitoring Laboratory of the Secretariat of Environment of the Metropolitan District of Quito.
In the theoretical part, statistical concepts were revised that allowed the analysis of the results obtained during the validation process. The reference procedures were also revised: Standard Methods 5520 - B and EPA 1664 - B for the determination of these parameters. While the standard NTE / ISO / IEC: 17025 was considered as reference for the validation parameters.
In the experimental part, the development of the method allowed to establish the ideal conditions for the control and realization of the test, by means of the development of pertinent tests that include the propitious procedure for the determination of these analytes. Once the method was finalized, the following validation parameters were established: selectivity, repeatability, reproducibility, accuracy and working interval.
Finally, the results obtained through the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were processed, where compliance with the parameters established for the validation of the gravimetric method of the determination of oils and fats was verified.

The objective of this project to propose a solid waste management plan for the Jesús Ordóñez School located in the canton of Quito. For the development of the project, the qualitative and quantitative approach was used, because it starts with the determination of the current situation of solid waste management through the collection of information, through interviews, field observations, surveys, talking maps and problem tree. To determine the generation and composition two characterizations were carried out over five days, the first was carried out in January, when the school activities were carried out normally and the second was carried out in February, during the inauguration of the internal championship. The GPC was of 0.024 kg/habitant*day. In the first and second characterization 21.65 kg and 23.77 kg were generated, the fractions protruding in both cases are organic with 29% and 25%, followed by unusable wastes with 19% and 20% respectively. The proposal for the solid waste management plan was developed on the basis of the bibliographic review, the analysis of the applied techniques and the results of the two characterizations.

Vaca Vaca, Daniela Elizabeth
Oyacachi is an ancestral commune that lives in Cayambe Coca National Park for more than 500 years. Its inhabitants are peaceful and friendly people who work in land, fish farming and livestock; in addition, to complement with ecotourism activities and sale of crafts that solve their economy. Its activities are carried out in a community and equitable way seeking the benefit for all its inhabitants. Among the multiple natural wealth that the community possesses, the water resource stands out, since within its territories are fountains, waterfalls and rivers; which has given them the badge as "the land of water."
Despite having water sources, the population does not have a conventional system of treatment or use of these; in contrast, within its territories are located the Salve Faccha dam and the Mogotes Dam that make up the Papallacta Integrated System, belonging to the Metropolitan Public Company of Potable Water and Sanitation (EPMAPS), which supplies water to the Metropolitan District of Quito.
The EPMAPS maintains relations with the community for the use and use of the source, therefore land concessions and the signing of a transactional agreement have been made. The compensations that the company delivers to the community are not only monetary, they are related to the construction of works such as improvement of sewerage and drinking water networks; In addition to providing community service to the population. That is why this prefeasibility study is proposed, which has been requested by the commune in order to benefit from it, creating a new source of income and work for its inhabitants.
In order to deliver this study to the community, the technical, environmental and social components have been developed that will allow at the end of this to determine the viability of the project and in turn will be the basis for future analyzes.

Sánchez Jaramillo, Karen Daniela
This project shows the process carried out to select a system that improves the water quality of the San José de Cutuglagua Regional Water and Sanitation Board. It began with the water characterization in different points of the system. Physicochemical and microbiological analyzes were performed, which offered an idea of how water is. Based on these results, alternatives were sought to improve quality. These alternatives were compared and those that were most suitable for the community needs were chosen. Finally, the alternative was designed according to the characteristics of the place, this being the improvement of water collection, conduction and disinfection, then it was shown to the community along with the cost report and a proposal with which the community can be guided in the process by their own means.

Cevallos Arias, Denisse Andrea
Guañuna Sanguña, Jeferson Andre
The present project “IMPLEMENTATION OF A GRAY WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM BY BIO-GARDEDNER IN A RESIDENCE OF THE “CALDERÓN” PARISH FOR REUSE” is an eco-sanitation technology which seeks to reduce the use of drinking water in daily activities of the being human, with the exception of consumption and also has a very important purpose that is based on the protection of the environment through the reuse of gray water for different activities in which drinking water is not required.
During the development, several activities were carried out such as: the baseline survey, separation of discharge pipes intended for treatment, the construction of a check box, the characterization of the tributary, the implementation of pretreatment with recycled materials, the adaptation of the land for the elaboration of the subsurface horizontal flow wetland. All these activities are aimed at reducing the concentration of pollutants present in gray water such as suspended materials, nutrients, BOD-COD and / or trace materials.
With the characterization of the effluent, the reduction of concentrations of the pollutants was verified, and, with the comparisons of the norms coming from the ¨ Unified Text of Secondary Legislation of Environment¨ and the ¨ Official Registry 028¨, it is determined that the treated water is complying with most of the permissible limits of these standards, so it is considered suitable for reuse, it should be mentioned that the pilot residence used to directly discharge the gray water to fruit trees and seasonal crops before the treatment was implemented.

Andrango Torres, Katherin Michelle
This project proposes to evaluate the water supply system in the community of San Francisco de Cruz Loma, since its collection, adduction, treatment, conduction to its distribution at homes. This system has been empirically implemented by the community, so there is a need to determine the appropriate hydraulic conditions for proper operation, that’s why a modeling was carried out using the EPANET software with assistance of referenced geo points, thus obtaining the planimetry and profiles of the area.
Water analyzes of different parameters were performed in the water’s collection like fecal coliforms, as it is one of the most important parameters for disinfection treatment, and also, the presence of solids which have given problems to the system due to the large dragging material to the conduit pipe that caused bad odors in the tank when it wasn’t cleaned at time.
For the development of this study, the data of the distribution system were obtained through community surveys with the assistance of the Junta de Agua’s members and directive whom collaborate for several routes to obtain data.

Rivera Estrella, Eugenia
The purpose of this work was to implement a document management system (DMS) for the Monitoring and Control Laboratory that is used to monitor the leachate-treatment-system discharge. This is part of “Empresa Pública Metropolitana de Gestión Integral de Residuos Sólidos”. (EMGIRS-EP). The DMS was elaborated based on the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories
established in the ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 standard. Before the design of the management system, an information collection was carried out with the help of a compliance matrix, which evidenced the degree of laboratory compliance with the ISO 17025 standard. Thanks to this this matrix, it was possible to determine the necessary documentation to properly manage the laboratory. As a result, a management system consisting of: procedures, formats, instructive, and records that will help optimize activities within the laboratory was elaborated. Besides, a quality manual was prepared that serves as a guide to introduce the document management system. Once the system was implemented, it was evaluated with the initial matrix to determine the degree of compliance achieved based on the ISO 17025 standard.

Urbina Maldonado, Jennifer Selena
The objective of project was oriented to use the organic waste generated in the cafeteria restaurant of the Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN). The work consisted of three stages: diagnosis,
implementation of compost piles and identification of the most effective composting method. In the diagnostic stage was carried out a characterization of organic waste generated in the restaurant-cafeteria, which allowed identifying the amount and type of waste generated. Subsequently, the implementation of the piles was carried out, from which the dimensions and the C / N ratio were calculated according to the data obtained in the diagnosis. In the last stage, the most effective method of composting was identified, according to the reality that exists on campus. For the identification of the most effective method, was established a selection index, according to the criteria chosen in the methodology. The study showed that the Takakura method was faster in the maturation time, unlike the vermicompost that prevailed in the control frequency. It should be noted that the two methods obtained an initial C / N ratio of 37/

Lima Aguaiza, Joseth Margarita
Sarabia Panchi , Freddy Iván
Wastewater is susceptible to physical, chemical and biological reactions that alter its quality. To know the characteristics of this flow, a sampling is carried out, which is an activity that requires criteria and technical knowledge as well as qualified human resources. Collection of the sample is essential to avoid generating erroneous data and having exact information about the characteristics of a place. The interpretation of the data obtained from sampling should allow adequate decision-making in the operation of a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and control of the effluent discharge, which is why the choice of the sampling method, frequency of sampling, sample volume, sampling for measurement of on-site and laboratory parameters should be the most appropriate. The sampling work can be executed with more precision through a variety of automatic equipment on the market. The ISCO 6712 model is the most appropriate for confinement conditions, reduced spaces and adverse atmospheric conditions, but with perfectly defined geometric dimensions, so the objective of this work is to develop an automatic sampling protocol for the PTAR Lloa, rural parish of Quito.

The purpose of this project was to assess the water quality of the three sources present in the San Luis de Lloa neighborhood, since the current state of the water resource is unknown, as well as an analysis of the expected conduction line build in the San Luis area. First of all, water parameters were determined in situ, with a multiparametric meter, thus samples were also collected following the guidelines of the INEN 2169: 2013 standard. These water samples were analyzed in the Center for Environmental Research and Control, and in the Teaching Laboratory of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the results were compared with book VI Appendix 1 Table 1 of the Unified Text of environmental legislation of the Ministry, reform from 2015, environment number 097-A, as well as the INEN 1108 standard and the technical standard for control of liquid discharges of MDQ ordinance 138, Annex I, Table 2. The latter was considered in order to establish reference values for certain parameters that are not present in the quality standards. Finally, an evaluation of the pipeline was carried out, with the topography presented by the Fund for the Protection of Water, since the construction of this is planned.

Sandoval Granda, Dayanna Nicole
Sisa Anacleto, Bryan David
This graduation project evaluated the water treatment system for human consumption in the Aglla district, Czech parish, through: socialization with the population, taking samples in situ, collection, preservation and transport of samples, flow gauging and land registry of the infrastructures.
In the analysis of water quality, eight monitoring points were established. The results obtained in situ and in the laboratory were evaluated and compared with the standards established based on compliance with the maximum permissible limits of Ministerial Agreement 097-A Table 1 and INEN 1108: 2020.
The cadastre of the existing infrastructure was carried out through the global positioning system and the dimensioning of each infrastructure. For its evaluation it was verified with the design standards. For this, the programs for the drawing of profiles and the layout of the infrastructures raised in the field visit were used.
The determination of the rate was carried out using methods and equipment. The rates obtained were compared with the water demands of the current and future population.
An operation and maintenance guide was prepared to improve the processes of the treatment system and obtain an adequate quality and quantity of the drinking water service.

Guerrero Toaza, Byron Edison
Regalado Cruz, Dayana Maricela
The purpose of the project was to evaluate the feasibility of using sludge from the wastewater treatment plant of the Francisco de Orellana canton in the elaboration of construction paving stones. The sludge is intended to be used in the construction field as a new viable method, in addition, it is intended to minimize the impact it generates on the environment. The sludge, once sampled, was analyzed in the laboratory of the Provincial Council of Orellana (GADPO). Later, the sludge was used in the elaboration of paving stones, with the collaboration of the DekoPiso micro-company. The paving stones, once manufactured, went through a curing stage for 28 days, to then carry out compression tests in the city of Quito, in the LEMSUR laboratory, where the paving stone breaks were made to measure its resistance. The paving stones were prepared for leachate analysis by immersing them in distilled water and they remained for 30 days, later samples of the leachate were taken and taken to be analyzed in the AqLab laboratory in the province of Orellana. Finally, an evaluation of the paving stones was prepared, where products that meet the mechanical and environmental requirements were obtained, with which a future reproduction of the paving stones is expected.

Arias Abarca, Luis Carlos
Proaño Pérez, Wilson Javier
This project proposes the design of the combined sewerage system for the parish of Tambillo
Centro, Cantón Mejía, of the Pichincha Province. To carry it out, technical visits were made to the
Tambillo Centro neighborhood to view the current state of the sewerage system. In the same way
technical information was collected from the following documentation: 1) VII Population Census
and VI Housing Census 2010, of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), 2)
UPDATE OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND TERRITORIAL PLAN OF THE PARISH
GOVERNMENT OF TAMBILLO, 3) Municipal Public Company of Drinking Water and Sewerage
of the Canton Mejía, EPAA-MEJIA, EP, 4) National Institute of Meteorology in Hydrology
(INAMHI). On the other hand, the sewage discharge flow of the current sewerage system of Barrio
Tambillo Centro was calculated using the volumetric method.
For the development of this combined sewerage design, technical standard CO10.07-60 was
considered: " Norms for the study and design of drinking water systems and wastewater disposal for
populations greater than 1000 inhabitants" and bases provided by " Design norms for sewerage
systems for the EMAAP-Q ”. In addition, socioeconomic surveys were conducted to establish the
lifestyle and economic situation of the population in order to determine the feasibility of the project
through a budget. An environmental file model was developed which includes the main project
activities and identifies the socio-environmental aspects as well as impacts generated by its implementation. In turn, an environmental management plan was carried out to prevent, control and mitigate the environmental impacts generated by the project.

Achig Maldonado, Diego Armando
Paredes Damián, Adriana Aracely
This project was developed at the El Carmen farm in the Carchi province and aimed to design two alternative tubular type biodigesters with an implementation and maintenance manual, respectively. The farm is dedicated to milk production and because of this generates large amounts of manure. The biodigester allows the treatment of fecal material and as a result biogas is obtained which serves as fuel and biol as natural fertilizer. This project starts with an excrete and waste water characterization from which it was obtained that the farm produces 453 kg manure usable from rejo cattle group and 210 L waste water from the milking area. This study presented two biodigester alternatives where it was established that the first design has the following dimensions: liquid volume 15.06 m3, length 11.2 m, sleeve diameter 1.6 m and a daily load of 165.50 L. The second design establishes this shape: liquid volume 37.31 m3, length 18.8 m, sleeve diameter 2.22 m and 410.10 L daily load, which are 1.2 m3 and 2.97 m3 of biogas per day, respectively.

Cuichan Carua, Diego Javier
Mayanquer Méndez, Ronald Steven
The purpose of this research was to determine the physical-chemical and microbiological characteristics of the waste sludge generated at Productores Químicos Ecuatorianos S.A., to subsequently implement mechanisms to help treat the waste sludge, as well as its analysis in the preparation of compost.
With the CRETIB analysis stage completed, the number of heavy metals and pathogens in the sludge was determined according to Mexican standards NOM-052-SEMARNAT-2005 and NOM-004-SEMARNAT-2002; in the next phase, the sludge had to be composted, but it presented dangerous characteristics so this stage could not be completed. Subsequently, in the next phase, the sludge was chemically stabilized with quicklime diluted to 20%, controlling its pH during the contact time to reduce the biological load that was present. In the final part of the project, the sludge was disposed of by a qualified manager.
PQA S.A., not being able to manage the residual sludge for economic reasons, INCINEROX shared information on how they manage residual sludge. In this way it was left as a record and source of information so that in the future PQA S.A. can dispose of the residual sludge in an adequate manner, complying with the stipulations of the national environmental regulations.

The purpose of this integrative project was to simulate water supply systems with pumping stations using Simscape Fluids from Matlab software, due to the fact that the demands of consumers in the communities that are served in the territory by the vital liquid, have given site to new processes to minimize times in supply and supply of drinking water, for which the digital simulations in software show as an effective choice, to face the challenges imposed by the traditional methods of implementation and construction.
The libraries and commands were studied with the basic concepts of the aforementioned software, in addition to the theoretical foundations, all the necessary arguments for the research work were explained in a general way. It began with hydraulic data obtained from bibliographic sources and hydraulic data taken in the field, to later simulate the supply system with several pumping stations and the pumping system of the Cutuglagua Potable Water and Sanitation Administration Board (JAAPS-C).
The general process for the development of the simulations in the Matlab and Simulink software was the advice of the developers, justifying all the points to represent the research work model.
Finally, to verify the results, a theoretical comparison with a similar characteristic was used in the hydraulic issue, varying the operating characteristics in the simulated systems in percentage terms.

Manual de operación y mantenimiento de plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales anaerobias.
Simbaña Lincango, Esteban Gonzalo
The anaerobic wastewater treatment plants located in the rural parishes of Pintag, Guayllabamba, Puellaro, Chavezpamba and San José de Minas are currently treating a flow of 1.05 l/s in optimal conditions, which was verified by analyzing each unit.
In the preparation of the operation and maintenance manual, the following topics were developed: the description and analysis of the operating units to be able to visualize the current conditions of each of the plants; within this, a monitoring of the type of water that enters each of the plants mentioned above was carried out, which allowed determining the efficiency of each of the wastewater treatment plants.
The preparation of this manual allows the operators assigned to each of these plants to correctly carry out the operation and maintenance of the operating units, thus being able to take preventive and corrective actions that reduce work times, increase their effectiveness and avoid damage to operating units. and improve the quality of operator performance.
The final product is a manual that should only be modified when substantial changes are made to the operating units.

Tinillo Chiriboga, Daniela Michelle
This degree project consists of the pilot implementation of a solid residue management system for the Los Cipreses II Urbanization, located in the Condado sector in the city of Quito. The project includes the phases of integral residue management, described in the Organic Environmental Code of Ecuador. The implementation of the management system was based on the principle of hierarchy, that is: minimization, reuse, take advantage of residue and final disposition.
In the pilot implementation, the participation of the Urbanization directive and some residents was achieved, jointly carrying out different activities in each of the management phases, mainly contemplating the realization of a compost process and the participation of grassroots recyclers, in a way that organic and inorganic waste can be used and revalued with environmental practices of composting and recycling, respectively.
A guide to the solid residue management system was shared with the Urbanization directive, with the intention that it be provided to all residents and they can also handle their organic and inorganic residue in a correct way.

The environmental crisis demands the implementation of mitigation actions, one of them is the recycling of energy from animal waste (biofuels), since several previous investigations indicate the feasibility of generating biogas using a bio digester, in this investigation a bio digester to take advantage of the cattle excreta, generated in the Hacienda Rodeopamba Lot 2.
When comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the Chinese, Hindu and Taiwanese or tubular models, under the atmospheric and climatological conditions presented by Hacienda Rodeopamba Lot 2, it is determined that the most suitable bio digester for the possible uses of biogas is the tubular model; This is designed following the procedure established by the Martí Herrero Guide, being the activities: identification of the baseline, determination of the load and volume, sizing of the bio digester, selection of the reactor material, sizing of the trench, pressure analysis operation, gasometer design, greenhouse and catchment and conduction piping system.
It is determined that the volume of the bio digester is 7.84 m3, the ratio of length to diameter is 5.52, which is within the acceptable range, considering the adequate dimensioning; Due to the characteristics of the materials, in this case it will be used in a double layer, polyethylene with a length of 7.5m that has sufficient mechanical resistance and withstands pressures greater than 10kPa., the trench will be oriented from west to east, to optimize solar radiation.
It is to be expected that the results generated will be adequately socialized, because bio digesters contribute to environmental mitigation, sustainability and economic support for those who decide to use it.

Since 1943, Barrio Miranda Grande, located in the north of the parish of Amaguaña, Quito, has been populated
by about 30 families who used water from wells, springs and the Pazhuaycu spring, a product of the filtration of
rainfall from the upper area of Pugyuco.
In 1993, the Board of Directors of the aforementioned neighborhood promoted through SENAGUA, the
National Water System, the search for the concession of the spring. For more than 10 years, Mr. Francisco
Pachacama, president of the neighborhood, continued the negotiation, since they did not have drinking water
service. Although a storage tank and a simple PVC pipe conduction and distribution system were built with
community support, the residents continue to experience a lack of water, which causes discomfort among the
neighbors. The sources are located 1 hour away from the town. Children and women are responsible for
carrying water when there is damage to the pipeline.
In this project we proposed: To investigate in agreement with the community of the neighborhood, the quality,
the hydraulic capacity of the supply system, and the feasibility of the conduction and distribution of water to
the houses. An assessment and analysis of the community's needs and problems was organized. Based on this
analysis, we proceeded to identify the instruments needed to measure the different characteristics according to
physical, chemical and biological parameters. They were also compared with the current water standards:
Ecuadorian Technical Standard NTE INEN 1108:202; (NORMA CO 10.7-602); and Ministerial Agreement
No. 097-A.
The conclusions are: the amount of water from the spring is not sufficient for the population. Water distribution
is not being equitable for the people. The water quality study shows adequate levels; water disinfection is
necessary.
To achieve a proposal for water treatment and system improvement. It is extremely important to socialize the
conclusions of this project with the community.
It is necessary to sensitize the community to avoid deforestation of the area, to maintain the native vegetation of
the area and not to introduce foreign species. Avoid overgrazing and promote a social communication
campaign to avoid dumping debris and garbage in the sector.

The main objective of the present work was to develop a comprehensive household solid waste management system for Buenaventura neighborhood, located south of Quito. For this, the evaluation criteria for the integral management of waste of the Sustainable Quito Metropolitan Environmental Distinction were considered, for the neighborhoods category. The project began with the diagnosis of the integral management of household solid waste, through interviews with key actors, observation and surveys of the residents of the neighborhood, then a search for complementary information was carried out on the daily collection of waste managed by EMASEO, in the sector.
Based on the diagnosis, a guide was developed for the management of household solid waste for the Buenaventura neighborhood. This document is divided into four chapters: the first chapter contains the introduction of the project where the scope, justification, objectives and theoretical foundations that refer to the subject of study, methodology and results are described.
As results, it is mentioned that the Buenaventura neighborhood manages its waste without any form of prior use, this is because there is no commitment between the residents and the leader of the pro-improvement committee, and because of the deficiency in environmental education and the interest in improving waste management in the neighborhood.
Through the results obtained, the management system was developed that proposes solid waste management alternatives, which are included in the guide.

Dávila Moreno, Josselyn Catalina
The purpose of this project was to design a potable water supply system in the Guadual community. In this place is easy to see lack of water and the limited access to the resource for the people who live there, that’s because the groundwater sources are contaminated by the salt water infiltration.
To designing this system, as a first step, it was necessary made the population analysis through the calculation of the population growth until the year 2050, with the information from the population, it was possible determinate the water supply that the dwellers needs to their diary use.
As next step was analyzing the hydraulic behavior of the potable water supply system employing the software EPANET were realizing two simulations of the system, the first one had a storage tank placed at the beginning of the community and the second one, without the storage tank. Both simulations were compared specially in their hydraulic information and that helped to make a decision about which system is more successful for the community.
Finally, the drawings of the system were made with all the data from the simulation and the type of designed selected, also were placed all the accessories like drain valves and air valves throughout the project, destined to operation and maintenance works. In the template of the drawings were specified all the hydraulic data that is necessary to the suitable management and construction of the system. The last step was making a cost estimate of the jobs and materials necessary to implement the project in the community.

Córdova Quezada, Nina Pacari
Delgado Delgado, Alexandra Elizabeth
This degree project is intended the small-scale recovery of post-consumer plastic waste in the parish of San José de Minas which is part of Quito. Due to difficult access, the solid waste collection system reaches few of the parish neighborhoods, which causes residents to look for alternatives to dispose of their waste. With this proposal it is hoped to take advantage of the plastic waste generated in the parish and avoid its bad disposal. For the development of this project, was necessary the support of: the parish local government, NGOs, neighborhood leaders, grassroots recyclers and the community. Information was collected through interviews with key actors and community surveys, activities that allowed estimating the production of plastic waste and learning about the community's behavior regarding the generation and disposal of its waste. Containers for plastic waste were located at strategic points in two selected neighborhoods of the parish and socialized with the community so that they learn how to separate their waste and how to deposit it in the containers. Mechanisms were created for waste transport and subsequent transformation. Based on the results obtained, a guide for the handling of plastic materials was developed.

The present study is focused on the elaboration of an environmental calculator on potentially recyclable materials, which will serve as a tool to mitigate climate change. The first stage is the compilation of information on the Ecuadorian industries of recyclable materials, the second stage is the elaboration of the life cycle analysis of the materials according to the origin of their raw material and the third stage is the association of the calculator with recovery data from the ReciVeci ReciApp.
In the first stage, general information was compiled on the production processes of Ecuadorian industries dedicated to the manufacture of potentially recyclable materials, which are plastic, glass, paper/cardboard, aluminum and multilayer packaging. The industries that manufactured these materials with virgin raw materials and those that manufactured them with recycled raw materials were investigated, thus providing information that was more relevant to the local context.
In the second stage, a life cycle analysis was carried out for each material. To do this, the production of each one was divided according to the origin of its raw material. The first, production with virgin raw material and the second, production with recycled raw material.
Finally, in the third stage, the data provided by the ReciApp mobile application was linked to the results of the environmental calculator. To do this, the deliveries made in the application were transformed into kilograms of material. In this way, the positive impact of the recovery of materials by grassroots recyclers through this technological tool, ReciApp, was obtained

In Quito, including the northern zone, it is very common to find drains and boxes with grids plugged by solid materials, which are dragged by surface runoff when it rains. These blockages are directly related to human activities, and their consequences are evidenced in the accumulation of water on the roads, depressed steps, homes, among others, leading to floods, material damage and even risk to the lives of citizens.
To mitigate these effects, it is necessary to establish an adequate maintenance plan that the correct execution of the cleaning tasks, the repair of the failures that may cause in the guaranteed rainwater drainage system and promote the collaboration of the citizens. For the execution of these objectives, the number of sinks in the study area was identified, a registry and fault coding file was prepared, the periodicity for maintenance was established, and technical guidelines were proposed for an adequate execution of cleaning work and a public awareness campaign was proposed.
Finally, guidelines have been established that allow maintenance work to be carried out manually and with a water suction vehicle, in a technical, adequate and safe manner. It should be noted that this information is a valuable instrument that serves as a guide for public and private entities that carry out cleaning and maintenance activities.

Escudero Guaranga, Leonardo Daniel
This investigation presents a proposal for wastewater treatment adequate for the "Galapagos" community of “Las Pampas” parish in the Sigchos-Cotopaxi canton. At present, the wastewater of the community is discharged into the area’s natural waterways without receiving any type of treatment, generating social and environmental damage.
For the development of this degree project, information was collected from the study site, through the consultation of existing technical reports in the Sigchos Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government (GADMS for its initials in Spanish), in order to determine the main problems existing in the area, as well as pre-existing structures and systems. After reviewing the documentation provided, topographic and registration data were collected to evaluate the operation of the sewerage system.
Through collected bibliographic data and theoretical pollution indexes of residential and municipal wastewater, two proposals were created for the purification of this type of wastewater. These sanitation proposals were evaluated through feasibility matrixes to decide which is the most viable to be applied, taking into account social, economic and operational aspects.
The document concludes with the treatment proposal that has the highest feasibility value, showing that this treatment model is the one that best suits the needs of the Galapagos community. This proposal consists of pretreatment and energy dissipation structures, a septic tank with an overlying chamber as secondary and biological treatment in order to finish the treatment with an infiltration field, which eliminates pollutants that were not removed in previous processes.

Anaguano Pillalaza, Melanny Joyce
González Riera, Martha Alexis
This study evaluates the hydraulic behavior of the Oyambaro supply and distribution system, which is affected by the quality of its drinking water, since during rainy seasons there are high levels of turbidity, causing discomfort to the inhabitants.
To begin with, baseline information was collected, where the community was visited, and samples were taken for in situ analysis. In addition, a topographic survey, inspection, and cadastre of the elements that make up the system were carried out.
With the data obtained from the topographic survey, a hydraulic modeling of the system was carried out to determine the conditions under which it works and whether they comply with the design regulations regarding velocities and pressures.
After analyzing the system, the following improvement proposals were determined: arrangement of the settling tank, implementation of a slow filter or a fast filter and the adaptation of a coarse mesh to prevent the passage of materials.
Finally, these proposals were presented to the drinking water board of the community of Oyambaro, to explain them in an understandable way, resolving any concerns

In this project, the quality of water for human consumption and the demand for water distributed by the Rosario & Aymesa Potable Water and Sanitation Administration Board (JAAPS), which supplies seventeen neighborhoods of the parish of Cutuglagua, using two systems by gravity and pumping, work that was carried out through: a tour of the system with the help of an operator, information gathering, photographs, georeferential data, taking samples for on-site and laboratory analysis, obtaining of the cadastral map of the area and socialization with the board of directors.
For the water quality analysis, 31 samples were taken distributed in seven points for on site, physicochemical and microbiological analysis with the help of the following equipment: turbidimeter, colorimeter, portable meter, multiparameter. It is worth mentioning that the parameters were analyzed in the CICAM laboratory, and the results obtained were compared based on the current standards of the maximum permissible limits, both for water for human consumption of the INEN 1108-2021 standard and for raw water with the Ministerial Agreement 097-A.
For the analysis of water demand, a poll was carried out to determine the number of plots and thus obtain the current population per distribution tank with a consolidation of 74%. The future population was calculated using the geometric progression method, since having economic sustainability allows local development, in addition to having expansion areas, which can be provided with services. For the analysis of the tank volume, a poll was carried out on the operator on the hourly distribution throughout the day and to determine the supply and consumption of the system, in such a way that the required volume to supply the population can be obtained.

Buenaño Pulgarin, Luis Fabricio
This degree study shows the physical, chemical and microbiological evaluation of the wastewater discharges of a health care center located in the south of Quito, Quitumbe sector.
The identification of the wastewater conduction system includes activities such as reading the procedure sheets of each of the unit processes and the sectioning of the hospital sewage system in the AutoCAD software. In the hospital, the main areas where wastewater is generated are the operating room (operating room), the kitchen, and the cafeteria.
The effluent was characterized by physical-chemical parameters such as: turbidity, DO, pH, Temperature, ST, TDS, BOD5, COD, fats/oils, SAAM, Phenols, Zinc, Cadmium, Mercury and microbiological parameters such as: fecal and total coliforms. These parameters were considered in the analysis, since they are the main contaminants of hospital discharges.
The results obtained in the laboratory, from the final outfall. Most comply with the maximum permissible discharge limits, with the exception of methylene blue active substances (SAAM).
To develop the optimization and improvement plan for each of the treatment systems, information on the processes was collected by reading technical data sheets, manufacturer data and data provided by maintenance personnel.
The characterization at the entrance and exit of the processes, allowed to know in detail the operation and the taking of values in the laboratory, to determine the biodegradability of the sampled wastewater and the efficiency of each process.

Jaramillo Valverde, Byron Santiago
Within the global flower industry, Ecuador is the third largest exporter of roses. International markets have high standards in terms of tolerance of pests and diseases in the flower, for which they demand care and monitoring in its cultivation, this being the main reason for the use of agricultural and phytosanitary products, additionally, buyers request that companies generate socio-environmental sustainability commitments and seek that they have evidence to support this. An essential factor to attract new customers is the calculation and reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG). For this reason, the present seeks to provide a tool to the floricultural sector for the estimation of the business carbon footprint through the GHG Protocol methodology. The compilation of business data for the year 2018 and the emission factors taken from the IPCC and Ecoinvent V2.2 resulted in the carbon footprint of the ECOROSES company being 3.03 kgCO2eq/kg of Exported Rose. For this reason, environmental practices will be improved for a progressive reduction in the amount of emissions generated, taking as axes the recycling of waste and the generation of compost, the use of fertilizers, the use of residual water, energy savings and the reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels.

Aguilar Real, Ingrid Tatiana
Torres Montenegro, Alba Victoria
In this degree project, the evaluation of the supply system of the Molino Alto del Quinche community was carried out, in terms of its hydraulic characteristics and water quality. The collection of basic information was carried out, obtaining documents from the community and taking surveys.
Field visits were made to recognize the system from the initial stage of capture to the final stage of distribution, and inspect its current operation, operation and maintenance, data were also collected from the existing hydraulic works in the in the water treatment plant.
For the hydraulic evaluation of the current conduction and distribution, schemes were made in simulation programs, and, for the analysis of water quality from the catchment to the distribution network, physical, chemical and microbiological tests were carried out. It was observed that the driving works properly, however, in the distribution it is not working correctly, this is analyzed according to EMAAP-Q regulations. The quality of raw water is optimal, while drinking water is inadequate according to NTE INEN 1108 and TULSMA regulations.
Calculations were made from known mathematical models, the plans (only of the distribution) and a manual were elaborated in order to propose improvements for operation and maintenance that contribute to the proper functioning of the supply system. This proposal includes an estimated budget comprising materials costs and quantities of work. The collaboration of the leaders and members of the MA community facilitated the development of this degree plan.

Cadena Tobar, Sergio Armando
Carcelén Chávez, Sofía Elizabeth
The main objective of the graywater reuse system proposed in this document is to take advantage of the water from sinks, kitchen, washing machine and laundry, as well as rainwater for toilet flushing and garden irrigation. In a household, the amount of toilet flushing per person is about 3 times a day, which implies large amounts of potable water used in this activity. This water expense would be taken care of by the recirculation of gray water, as well as the expense generated in garden irrigation.
The system begins with the collection of gray water generated in the home and then gives them a primary treatment, storage and finally distribute it to the toilet tanks through a pressurization system consisting of a hydraulic pump and a hydropneumatic tank, this would be to meet the pressure required in the system, resulting in considerable water savings, decreases the amount of contaminated water into the sewer system, would also get an economic savings within the home and a second use is given to gray water.

Ruchi Duchi, Lissette Gabriela
The dairy industry is constantly growing, so waste production volumes are increasing. Wastewater is one of the main problems, because its discharge into the public sewage system does not comply with regulations. For this reason, different treatments have been presented, such as the worm filter or Tohá system, which besides being an economically accessible method, allows the efficient removal of pollutants that alter water quality, among which we can mention COD and nutrients.
Thus, the titration project was carried out with the purpose of providing an innovative method to improve the treatment of wastewater from the Rossi Group company located in the Mejia canton, province of Pichincha. The development of the experiment began with the sampling and characterization of the wastewater to determine the contaminants present and identify the problems to be solved according to the Ecuadorian regulations specified in the TULSMA for a controlled discharge to the sewage system.
An investigation was also carried out on the operation of the Tohá system for the treatment of the effluent in a laboratory prototype. In order to evaluate its usefulness in the reduction of pollutants through the action of earthworms, a control filter was built at the same time. The two systems were executed under the same conditions and their operation was verified in optimal conditions, as well as in unfavorable conditions. The benefits and costs associated with the future implementation of the project were also analyzed.

Aguilar Ortiz, Douglas David
Chicaiza Zambrano, Anthony Alexis
The objective of this degree project was to analyze the carbon footprint of products made from recycled material and to develop a carbon footprint calculator for Ecuaplastic S.C.
As a first stage, it was chosen jointly with Ecuaplastic S.C. 3 stars products for the analysis and based on these, 3 functionally equivalent products were chosen in the same way, but made from virgin raw material to be able to make a comparison. The scope of the study was defined by carrying out a lifting of the production systems considering as study limitations the extraction of raw material (only for Ecuaplastic S.C.), transport to the user, use of the product and final disposal.
The second stage consisted of making an inventory of GHG emissions of the analyzed products. Once the carbon footprint was determined, a comparative analysis was carried out to find the products with the highest emissions and identify processes in which GHG must be reduced. As a third stage, a carbon footprint calculator was developed with the “Excel” tool that would allow Ecuaplastic S.C. select the products from its catalog and it will automatically calculate the carbon footprint for the products to be sold and compare them with their respective products equivalently.
It was concluded that the products of Ecuaplastic S.C. represent a better contribution to the environment, this within the limits established in this study, because, compared to products made from virgin raw material, they produce a lower amount of GHG emissions.

Evas Lluglla, Bryan Fernando
This work was carried out at the Rossi Group Company, located on the Panamericana Highway via Machachi, whose objective is the evaluation of effective microorganisms for the treatment of wastewater, to reduce the load of pollutants, so that they are under the TULSMA regulations.
As a first step, the characterization of the wastewater was reviewed and it was determined that the effluent is biodegradable, therefore a biological treatment is very useful in this case. Subsequently, a laboratory-scale prototype was built for its treatment, where 10 L of wastewater was treated, and concentrations of Efficient Microorganisms (EM) were set at 2% and 5%, with the implementation of an aeration system to compare the results of the treatment with the different concentrations of EM.
At the end of the treatment after 10 days, an improvement in the quality of the wastewater was observed, with which the parameters such as COD, BOD and some nutrients complied with the regulations for discharges to the sewage system.
Finally, the MS treatment was compared with a worm filter treatment, to highlight some advantages and disadvantages of the treatments used.

Criollo Morocho, Michael Alexander
Pachacama Aguirre, Evelyn Leonela
The main objective of this degree work was to propose viable options for the recovery of non-hazardous solid
waste in the La Marca Urbanization, located in the San Antonio de Pichincha parish of the Metropolitan
District of Quito. To develop the project, quantitative, descriptive and experimental methods were adopted in
order to determine solid waste management. In addition, research techniques were used such as: field
observations, as well as interviews and surveys of the residents of the urbanization. In turn, the SWOT analysis
was carried out to understand the current urbanization scenario and propose alternatives accordingly. For the
characterization of solid waste, the "Methodological Guide for the Development of the Study of
Characterization of Municipal Solid Waste in Peru" was applied for 7 days in June 2021. For the generation of
waste, the amount of 429.19 kg / week was obtained, with a CPP of 0.62 kg / inhab / day. The most
representative of the composition were organic with 41.51%, followed by glass residues with 17.14%. As for
the viable alternatives for recovery, the recycling of usable waste and the production of vermicompost were
proposed. Finally, a didactic guide was developed to explain the correct disposal of waste, through the
proposed alternatives: recycling and compost. The guide will be for the exclusive use of residents and includes
recommendations to contribute to the sustainability of the alternatives proposed for urbanization.

Tipantuña Rodríguez, Wendy Valeria
This project evaluated the quality of water for human consumption in the main neighborhoods of Alisuco and
La Unión. Which are located in the borough of Mejía, of the Cutuglagua parish. In order to verify that the water
supply distributed to the inhabitants is in suitable conditions for human consumption.
It began with the compilation of technical documents on the water supply system of the Cutuglagua parish and
visits to the site, to identify strategic points for water quality sampling activities. Subsequently, the sampling
was carried out in the ten selected points, throughout the system, from collection to distribution to users. Some
quality parameters were determined in the field and the rest were processed in the laboratory. To assess the
status of the storage tanks, cadastral records were prepared.
The obtained results from the quality parameters were evaluated and compared with the Ecuadorian Technical
Regulation INEN 1108, 6th revision, 2020 and the Unified Text of Secondary Environmental Legislation
(TULSMA), extracted from Ministerial Agreement 097, 2015. In addition, it was determined by the Water
Quality Index (ICA).
The quality of the water of the Cutuglagua supply system complies with the regulations. That is suitable for
human consumption as it has an ICA, with values between 70 and 84. Which are in the acceptable classification
throughout the route. Finally, an improvement proposal for the disinfection system was provided, through the
implementation of a drip hypo chlorinator, to ensure adequate chlorine dosage.
