Abstract .- The convergente system in Ecuador has produced four historical earthquakes in the last century. The biggest event in 1906 (Mw = 8.8) produced a rupture surface of ~ 500 km long and was partially reactivated by three minor earthquakes 1942 (Mw = 7.8), 1958 (Mw = 7.7), and 1979 (Mw = 8.2). The southern boundary of the rupture zone is at the latitude of Bahia de Caraquez. Southern Bahía, no subduction earthquakes with Mw > 7 are not known in the central margen of Ecuador. This work presents a study of the seismicity in the central margen of Ecuador. It analizes 5 months (December 2012-April 2013) of seismic data recorded at 18 stations (14 stations in land and 4 Ocean Bottom Seismometers or OBS) which were installed as part of the OSISEQ/JUAN experiments (IG-EPN and Geoazur-IRD) in the Manabí region.
