Abstract: The aim of this study was to automate the process of mounting the enclosure cover motor, metal finishing line jointer Maresa. An ergonomic analysis using the method OWAS, which allowed verifying that the positions taken by the operator during the positioning of the cover will generate risk of injury was performed. Automating the process was to construct a handle to facilitate transportation of the cover, this mechanism uses the vacuum technique. It was built in three parts: the first consisted of a structure formed by an IPN profile with a movable portion located at the top. This moving part the second part was built, a manipulator arm, where two pneumatic cylinders that allow the arm to take the positions required for moving the cover were installed. Arm as part of the structure, the third part is installed, a pneumatic circuit vacuum handling, this circuit used to generate the vacuum ejectors, suction cups are connected to these are elements that allowed moving the deck, the project helped remove 100% risk of injury to operators who placed the engine enclosure cover.
