Abstract: This paper presents the construction of a methodology for the credit assessment of prospects of a financial institution regulated by Superintendency of Banks and Insurance. The proposal is based on a fuzzy inference model which combines on the one hand, the analysis of the risk profile of the applicant and secondly, how to manage your debt in competition; with the analysis of this information it seeks to suggest a line of credit to be offered as pre-approved. The work begins with the construction of the risk profile of a potential customer through a binary logistic regression; the result is included as a variable of the fuzzy model, the credit assessment is complemented by the variables related to current and historical debt in the competition. This identifies the relationship between input and output variables using the knowledge base which includes: knowledge among experts on the phenomenon, the business objectives of the institution and the result of statistical analysis of the variables. This allows to get an analytical and statistical methodology, which becomes an objective and standardized tool that helps minimize credit risk.
