Abstract: The present project aims to design a recuperative system of cellulosic fiber from waste streams from a paper recycling plant. Cellulosic fiber loss points were identified in streams from the thickening area of the paper recycling plant, the waste water containing on average 0.99% by weight of recoverable fibers and 26.17% of inorganic material mainly made up of inks. The percentage of cellulosic fiber present in the effluent with a size greater than 100 mesh or 150 μm, suitable for the manufacture of tissue paper is 35.78%. The fiber recovery system was designed to treat an average flow rate of 77.56 m3 / h and consists of a stirred dilution tank, a sloped static screen and a stirred homogenization tank. The Matthews step method was used for mesh filter design with 70% retention and fluid mechanics concepts for the design of agitators. It was determined by mass balances that the amount of recovered cellulose is 4.65 t / day representing a value of 880 041.10 USD / year.
