Resumen: The goal of this thesis is to simulate the behavior of the hysteresis loops of relaxor ferroelectric materials, so that we can get a better understanding of the internal behavior of those materials. A modified Ising model is developed, which includes the dipole-dipole interaction and the influence of random internal electric fields. Additionally, the volume and number of polar nanoregions, and the temperature are included as simulation variables. In order to analyze the evolution of the system, the Monte Carlo method is used with the Metropolis algorithm. When there are higher volumes, the hysteresis loop approximates a square shape with high values for the remanent polarization, similar to the hysteresis loops of a normal ferroelectric; whereas smaller volumes lead to a behavior characteristic of relaxor ferroelectrics with slim hysteresis loops and lower values of remanent polarization. The intensity of the random internal electric field also differentiates between the both materials; the relaxor type material having a random electric field of higher intensity than that of the normal ferroelectric type material. Finally, a qualitative comparison is made between the simulated and the experimental hysteresis loops of the relaxor ferroelectric materials Pb2Bi4Ti5O18 and Pb3Bi4Ti6O21.
