Determinantes objetivos y subjetivos de la felicidad en el Ecuador, año 2014

Abstract

The study of happiness in the Economics has focused mainly on the effects of income and employment. However, the analysis of the consumption factor is less common, although it would be a better measure of well-being. This research examines the relationship between happiness and various objective and subjective factors in Ecuador, with an emphasis on consumption. For this, an estimate by Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) is made using data from the Living Conditions Survey 2013-2014. The results of the estimates suggest that, the increase in spending on food and non-alcoholic beverages; furniture and household items; and, recreation and culture positively and significantly affect happiness.
