Zusammenfassung: The study area is located in the Interandean region, at north of Ecuador, specifically in the Ibarra city, 115 km away of Quito city. The basement is composed of Oligocene to Miocene volcanic rocks and fluvial sediments covered by volcanics rocks from the proximal volcanic centers. The structural, morphologic and petrographic study allows identify previously unreported lithologic units as is San Juan de Lachas unit. Outcrops of this unit is located in the northwestern zone and rocks of the Chota Group establishing the stratigraphically relationships with the basement and overlying deposits. The study allows identify three morphostructural blocks controlled by neotectonic structures associated to inverse fault system with dip to E. This study identifies the Sistema Pesillo-Angochagua and prolongation to north is the Tahuando Fault, the Río Ambi Fault is a branch of this system. The Pesillo-Angochagua system is composed by an old fault stroke restricted to Pesillo-Angochagua villages and the young fault stroke is the Tahuando Fault with neotectonic activity. This structure would cause the uprising of “Sierra de Angochagua” and cause a morphologic variation in the Interandean Depression in the north of Ecuador. To the south of this structure the elevation of Interandean Depression varies between 2400 y 2600 meters above sea level, while to the north of the structure the topography of the Interandean Depression increase from 2900 to 3100 meter above sea level in the village of El Ángel, San Gabriel, Tulcán and the south of Colombia a exception is the valley of Chota river that has elevations between 1500 to 1800 meters above of sea maybe caused by a local “pull-apart” basing
