Abstract: Nowadays, the deployed optical systems utilize the multiplexing technique Wavelength Division Multiplexing, due to several advantages, such as the speed at which the information is transmitted, the separation between frequencies that decreases as time goes by and dedicated investigation related to the topic. However, it is anticipated that in the future the number of signals transmitted in DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing), will became insufficient. Therefore, new techniques have been developed and are still under study, like the case of UDWDM (Ultra Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing). UDWDM proposes theoretically a frequency separation of 10 GHz or less; in consequence, the number of signals increases considerably. Despite that, there are still some challenges to face, like the accentuated presence of non-linear effects in optical fibers, and the intersymbol interference created by the adjacent wavelengths. Besides, it becomes interesting to study the frequency bands in which the fiber works, since currently there are commercial devices that operate in the C band and the L band. Moreover, studying L Band becomes important, due to its low losses in its frequencies and given the fact that it is still not saturated. This work proposes the simulation of four scenarios: DWDM using C Band, UDWDM in C Band, DWDM applied in L Band and UDWDM by L Band, all of them through the software OptSim. The results will be analyzed by using parameters like the Eye Diagram, Jitter, BER and Q Value.
