Abstract: This work studied the adsorbent capacity of the shell and the cotyledon of Moringa oleifera seeds used for the removal of fluorides. The material was characterized by means of physical-chemical analysis, point of zero of the material, FTIR and SEM. The adsorption capacity of Moringa oleifera was determined through six trials per batch, using the different parts of activated Moringa oleifera seed, with three particle sizes (0.71, 0.30 and 0.21 mm) and five samples of adsorbent per test (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 g), using two concentrations of fluorine for each of them (9 and 4 mg / L). The experimental results were adjusted to the Langmuir model for the categories and to the Freundlich model for the cotyledon, with a correlation coefficient of 0.93 and 0.99, respectively. The adsorption capacity was 77% for the cotyledon and 80% for the shell, using a particle size of 0.212 mm and a dose of adsorbent of 5 g / L. The results obtained show that the Moringa oleifera seed is presented as an efficient material for the removal of fluorides.
