Estudio comparativo del rendimiento entre LTE FDD y LTE TDD mediante el software ICS Designer

Abstract

The final career project presents a comparative study of the performance of the two type duplex modes allowed in the LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology. The FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) duplex mode is used for paired spectrum and TDD (Time Divison Duplex) for unpaired spectrum. For the design and implementation of the LTE FDD and LTE TDD networks, a geographic area of approximately 5 km2 is selected in the northern zone of the city of Quito and the comparison of the performance of both types of duplexation is carried out using the ICS Designer software. In the evaluation of the networks, the parameters RSRP (Reference Signal Received Power), RSRQ (Reference Signal Received Quality), SNIR (Signal to Noise plus Interference Ratio) and throughput are analyzed, in addition, through the simulations a coverage map of each parameter with its respective percentage of coverage. With this study, mobile telephony operators will have quantitative information about the advantages and problems of implementing a LTE FDD or LTE TDD network.
