Estudio sobre la predisposición a aceptar cargos económicos adicionales en la planilla de agua potable por servicios ambientales en el Distrito Metropolitano de Quito – DMQ

Abstract

The present research project is focused on knowing the willingness to accept additional economic charges in the drinking water lists of citizens of the Metropolitan District of Quito to contribute to the implementation of the Decontamination Program of rivers and streams of the Metropolitan Public Water Company Potable and Sanitation of Quito, because the interactions between society and the environment over time have lacked concern in the face of the deterioration of the ecosystem and therefore, a notorious action that mitigates the negative effects caused by this intervention. It is essential to know this perception of the inhabitants in contributing to the execution of this type of programs because in previous years, these rivers along with their streams were valuable and spacious natural landscapes that with the passage of time and the constant unbridled increase of the population has caused that these become garbage dumps of the city. The research methodology used was a quantitative one with a descriptive scope, with a non-experimental research design to obtain the information of the object of study only once and at a given time, using different tools for the collection and data processing, specifically, a questionnaire in the form of a survey applied to 384 inhabitants of the city, both men and women belonging to the economically active population between 18 and 60 years old, as a study sample. What allowed understanding in a clearer way than its predisposition to this problem of accepting additional economic charges, is significantly positive in relation to the Program of Decontamination of rivers and streams that EPMAPS poses, in a 60.42%. With an unexpected result of 68.49% of the total sample, with a predisposition to cancel an additional monthly value between $ 1.01 - $ 2.00 USD.
