Abstract: There are three forms of thermal energy storage, in the form of sensible heat, by thermochemical reaction and by latent heat. In relation to the last case, the latent heat is the amount of energy that is stored in a material when it changes its molecular structure, its phase or its state of hydration without there being an increase in temperature. This form of storage has great advantages in relation to the first two such as higher storage density, reduction of energy losses due to the change in temperature and the possibility of selecting the working temperature. This research work was oriented to the analysis of energy efficiency based on the analysis of phase change materials (PCMs), through experimental characterization using validated methods. A PCM is one that has the ability to store energy in the form of latent heat, has a high melting point and phase transition point around the operating temperature. They are designed with the purpose of avoiding the loss of heat by absorbing or detaching it.
