In this work was evaluated the effect of the incorporation of waste leather shaving in a polyethylene (HDPE) - ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) matrix To determine the processability of these materials was used an experimental design 23. The factors were: leather shaving size (retained # 30 and retained # 50), leather shaving concentration (20% and 40%) and EVA concentration (10% and 25%). The response variables were the values of tensile strength, elongation at break and hardness. The materials that showed the best results they were characterized optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (MEB). The materials that showed the best properties was of the material containing a 10% concentration EVA, 40% leather shaving and a retained size # 30 in the blend, obtained a tensile strength of 23.15 MPa and a hardness of 70.60 (Shore D), which is equivalent to an increase of 10.24% and 13.14% respect to the matrix. It was determined by means of electronic microscopy that there was good adhesion between the leather chips and the matrix, thus achieving an even distribution of the load between them, as a consequence some mechanical properties were improved.es_ES
