Estudio de la toma de decisiones en las pequeñas y medianas empresas industriales del sector de la construcción, localizadas en la ciudad de Quito

Abstract

This business engineering thesis aims to understand the mechanisms used by managers in small and medium-sized industrial companies in the construction sector, in the city of Quito, for decision-making. The task of making decisions is for the managers a daily activity, however, due to the uncertainty it becomes difficult when future situations can not be predicted from historical facts. To contribute to the facilitation of this task the present investigation was carried out applying the questionnaires proposed in the General Decision Making Style (GMS), a Likert scale was used that allows classifying the participants in five categories according to the style of decision making. For the analysis of the results obtained, the frequency distribution and graphic representations were used to observe the number of individuals corresponding to a category in each research question, measures of central tendency, such as the mean, to know characteristics of the answers obtained and statistical tests that will allow to infer about the statistical significance of the observations and their inference in the population. The results obtained contribute to improving the way in which managers direct organizations.
