Gestión de huertos urbanos como alternativa de decrecimiento. Caso: Fundación Runakawsai

Abstract

This titling work assesses the management of urban orchards as an alternative to degrowth in the RunaKawsai Foundation. The theoretical framework is based on the principles of degrowth "8R" proposed by Serge Latouche and the ethical principles of permaculture. The methodology was qualitative in nature and focused on the understanding the actions of the members of the foundation from an internal perspective, referring to the motivations, feelings and ideals. The type of research used was the case study, which allowed the subject to be analyzed from multiple points of view, which offers a deeper and more thorough knowledge of each phenomenon. Participant observation, self-observation, document analysis and in-depth interviews were used as information gathering tools. The analysis of the information was carried out with the help of the tool Atlas.Ti, a software designed for the qualitative analysis that allowed the categorization of the information. The results systematize the management carried out by the RunaKawsai Foundation around its agricultural, non-agricultural activities and in specific the management of urban orchards. In addition, the philosophy shared by the members of the Foundation is exteriorized, which falls on three pillars: connection-man nature, working in community and fostering values, giving a new vision regarding the care of natural resources in urban systems; And the principles of the foundation is a composition of the theory-practical relationship between the principles of degrowth and the ethical principles of permaculture.
