Abstract

This Master's thesis intends to evaluate the feasibility of making the investment in the repowering of the productive processes considered critical within an Ecuadorian company of the auto parts sector. The decision to invest in this type of projects must have a very thorough analysis because automotive companies have very demanding quality standards to be able to manufacture their products, which leads to highly specialized production processes, to the point that they are unique in the manufacturing field. For the analysis will be taken into account the ease of access to the technology needed for the improvements identified in a previous quantitative analysis, also the investment needed to make such improvement and finally the social impact that these improvements may have on workers in this sector. The quantitative analysis will be carried out under the automotive standard IATF 16949:2016, in its section related to Statistical Process Control (SPC). This standard is under the approval of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), which is the largest association of automotive assemblers in the world where companies such as Ford, General Motors and Chrysler stand out.
