Zusammenfassung: This thesis seeks to propose a new alternative to be able to dampen electromechanical oscillations within an electrical power system, by obtaining the matrix of state and eigenvalues in order to determine the participation of the generators in the modes of oscillation negatively or poorly damped by the residue. The algorithm of Linear Quadratic Regulation (LQR) will be implemented in order to solve the optimization problem, obtaining through this algorithm the parameters that will be necessary to enter the AVRs type controllers to be located in the generation units previously selected. This methodology will be validated when tested with the case of the interconnected national system (SNI) of Ecuador, we will be able to visualize how the generators to be treated were located and how they evolved the damping after the methodology was applied. This new methodology will give an advance with regard to the location of units with little damping, since, conventionally, the participation factor is based on a test and error analysis rather than a mathematical model, finally the implementation of the Algorithm LQR will give comparative contrast to the other models of parametrize to controllers.
