Estudio sobre el acoso sexual en estudiantes de la Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Ambiental de la Escuela Politécnica Nacional

Abstract

Sexual harassment is a phenomenon that is present in society and has been passed down from generation to generation, as is gender violence. This behavior, known for being of a sexual nature and that agrees with the honor of the victims, is very naturalized today. Despite the efforts of activist groups and governments to reduce this problem, their attention remains on girls, boys and teenagers, leaving young university adults aside. Thus, this research carried out on 323 students of the Faculty of Environmental and Civil Engineering (FICA) of the National Polytechnic School (EPN) shows the presence of sexual harassment in the classrooms and, at the same time, analyzes its nature, the forms in which it is presented, the frequency, the actors and the relationship that they have with the victims to identify if the power of a part makes this behavior appear more continuous and the places where such cases have been evidenced. As well as identifying the level of knowledge that students have about institutional actions and the procedures of action they can follow. When identifying the factors previously mentioned, look for strategies to reduce and eliminate sexual harassment within the EPN, beginning with FICA and thus achieving an adequate environment for the training of future professionals, in accordance with the law.
