Abstract: Currently, the oil field Sansahuari of the company Petroamazonas rents diesel electric generators to supply the energy demand required for oil extraction; however, the rent and fuel’s cost for its operation are high. Petroamazonas intends to replace the electric energy rented in Sansahuari with the remaining generation from the oil field Cuyabeno, that´s why it is necessary to carry out the interconnection between the substations of these fields. Usually, to make the interconnection overhead feeders are built due to their ease of design and construction; however, in the project execution area the electrical risk for the existing fauna and the deforestation necessary to approve the corresponding rights of way represent a great environmental impact. In the present technical study, the design at 13.8 kV of an 11.5 km long feeder to accomplish the interconnection was initially evaluated, considering the benefits that an underground installation has compared to an overhead installation. However, the selected conductor does not reach the limits of voltage drop and chargeability established by the company; therefore, it was necessary to increase its design voltage. Finally, the design is carried out at 34.5 kV, the optimal route is determined in ©ArcGIS and the modeling, electrical studies in steady state and coordination of protections for the feeder are implemented in ©PowerFactory; the obtained results are used to check the viability of the project through an economic study.
