Abstract: This thesis is aimed at evaluating the type of current and desired organizational culture at the Centro de Educación Continua CEC headquarters Escuela Politécnica Nacional, through the application of the Cameron and Quinn Competing Value Framework, which classifies organizational culture into four types by assisting the Organizational Culture Characterization Questionnaire (OCAI), which is applied to staff in the different areas of the institution, and then determine whether or not there are differences between present and longed-for culture. Given the importance of having a strong culture that gives them greater opportunities to grow, more productive employees, generate competitive advantages and better market positioning, these are some of the great attributes that companies dream of achieving. Therefore, the conduct of this study in the CEC-EPN will find out whether there are differences between emerging culture with respect to the culture that members of the institution crate. Subsequently, this comparison found that, if there are differences between the current and desired culture, which shows that employees have no conflict with what the institution encourages, causing them not to be directed in the same direction. These results provide a lot of information to CEC managers for early action in decision-making and the creation of strategies that go along with institutional objectives.
Description: Esta tesis esta encaminada en evaluar el tipo de cultura organizacional actual y la deseada en el Centro de Educación Continua CEC sede en la Escuela Politécnica Nacional, mediante la aplicación del Modelo de Valores Competitivos de Cameron y Quinn, el cual clasifica la cultura organizacional en cuatro tipos mediante la ayuda del cuestionario de caracterización de cultura organizacional (OCAI), que es aplicado al personal de las diferentes áreas de la institución, para luego determinar si existe o no diferencias entre la cultura presente y la anhelada. Dada la importancia de poseer una cultura firme que les genere mayores oportunidades para crecer, empleados más productivos, generar ventajas competitivas y mejor posicionamiento en el mercado, estas son algunas de los grandes atributos que las empresas sueñan por alcanzar. Por lo que con la realización del presente estudio en el CEC-EPN se averiguará si existe diferencias entre la cultura emergente con respecto a la cultura que ansían los miembros de la institución. Posteriormente en esta comparación se comprobó que, si hay diferencias entre la cultura actual y deseada, lo cual evidencia que los empleados tienen conflicto con lo que la institución fomenta, provocando que no estén encaminados hacia la misma dirección. Estos resultados aportan mucha información a los directivos del CEC para una pronta actuación en la toma de decisiones y la creación de estrategias que vayan a la par con los objetivos institucionales.
