Abstract: In the present work, a computational design focused on reciprocal framework structures is developed. For this, we proceed to perform a three-dimensional modeling of a reciprocal cover, obtaining a structure with an appropriate reciprocal geometry with a focus on the optimization of connections between its elements, since, this type of structures are characterized by their non-hierarchical nature, since, when changing a local parameter of any element, the entire structure will be affected and must be readjusted to restore its connections. The design was developed in Rhinoceros/Grasshopper software. Starting from a dome-shaped surface, in which a triangular parametric cover is generated, to later become a reciprocal cover. This conversion is done by the "rotation method", however, with this method the connection between elements cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, an optimization of eccentricities was carried out through a dynamic relaxation approach, where each element is applied fictitious forces that will make each element move and rotate, until reaching a static equilibrium. For this, the Kangaroo / Grasshopper tool was used, capable of performing a non-linear analysis, and thus, achieving the 3D model of an optimized reciprocal cover. Finally, the file of the 3D model is exported to a specialized structural analysis software, where the structural stability is determined, based on the total deformations and normal stresses that occur in each member due to the loads of own weight.
