Resumen: The present study aims to determine the treatability coefficient of a biofilter packed with Lantana camara from data obtained in its four pruning ages (fine with thorns, coarse with thorns, fine without thorns and coarse without thorns) for the treatment of domestic wastewater. The analyzes carried out for the characterization of the wastewater used in this research have been carried out at the inlet of the biofilter for the tributaries and at the outlet for the effluents, thus executing Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) tests and measurements of parameters such as the flow, pH and temperature for each pruning age and in a pilot plant for subsequent evaluation. For this purpose, tools such as SPSS, Minitab and Excel have been used to treat the data obtained in the evaluation period and to determine a mathematical model that reflects the functioning of the biofilter. Likewise, the Eckenfelder, Velz, Germain and Oleszkiewicz models have been used to be applied to the data and to compare the effluent concentration results by the offered model with the results of the bibliographic models. The results of the process reflect that during the evaluation period the pH and temperature parameters do not show greater variability and allow the optimal functioning of the biofilter, and the proposed model has constants of k = 1.832 and n = 0.541. With these constants, the COD values of the effluent are compared with the bibliographic models through the error, of which it is necessary that for the Eckenfelder, Oleszkiewicz and Velz models the errors with respect to the measured COD value are greater than 100%, and the Germain model has an error of 28% compared with the 15% of the model proposed in this research, with which it is concluded that the latter model that best fits the data set.
