Abstract: Currently the growing demand for wireless communication services has led to the need systems than support high data rates. Thus, in the analysis of parameters involved with the transmission rate, numerous important investigations have been developed. The power of transmission and the electromagnetic spectrum are resources that in a wireless environment are of important consideration. For this reason, this project is proposed to analyze the algorithm of Geometric Water-Filling in OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) systems. The Geometric Water-Filling analyzes the communications channel through the signal to noise ratio (SNR). In this way the algorithm assigns a new power to each subcarrier, which will not be the same for all subcarriers as it does in the conventional OFDM system. Thus, through an optimal power allocation the capacity of the communications channel is improved.
