Análisis de las condiciones macroeconómicas que afectaron la toma de Decisiones de las empresas del sector del transporte en el Ecuador, período 2014 –2017

Abstract

The research had the general objective of analyzing the macroeconomic conditions that affected the decision-making of companies in the transportation sector in Ecuador, during the period 2014 - 2017. For this, three specific objectives were established: Identify the main macroeconomic variables that affected to companies in the transport sector during the study period. Analyze the evolution of the main financial indicators of the companies in the transport sector selected during the same period. In addition, analyze the macroeconomic effects that affect the added value of transportation and the economic performance of companies in this sector. The Structural Var Model was the method used to analyze the macro-level effects that had an impact on the financial performance of the sector. It was possible to verify that the most disturbing external indicators were the GDP and the trade balance, presenting a direct impact on the decision-making of the sector, while the variations in gross added value find a significant relationship with the average collection period. While internal economic factors reported a liquidity deficit and sales income, however, good leverage ratios that allowed the sector to obtain financing to pay off its debts. Through the method used, it was possible to prove a causality between the study variables, in addition to a non-stationary environment with respect to the financial indicators. Concluding that the study managed to prove the hypothesis raised, verifying that the set of macroeconomic conditions did affect the decision-making of companies in the country's transportation sector.
