Oil extraction in offshore fields is carried out with floating storage, and offloading units (FPSO) for oil production, attached with risers to a balcony. These vessels have roll movements that can be reduced by using a passive compensation system. In this project, a methodology was implemented to perform a kinematic analysis of an FPSO at the riser attachment point. This analysis was performed with and without a roll compensation system. A hydrodynamic model of the FPSO with the compensator is modelled in the ANSYS AQWA software. From various time domain analyses for possible combinations of significant wave height and peak periods, the 2rms values of the accelerations and roll angles were compared with and without the compensation system. In addition, the transfer functions are obtained to assess the change in roll natural period. The results show that in the critical cases the FPSO roll decreases from 23.97° to 12.51° and the accelerations at the attachment point decrease from 2.14 m/s^2 to 0.92 m/s^2, as well as the natural period of FPSO roll increases from 13 seconds to 14.5 seconds with the system.es_ES
