Estudio de WiMax2 (IEEE 802.16m) y la Factibilidad de Implementación en el Ecuador

Abstract

Resumen .- El presente trabajo “Estudio de WiMAX2 (IEEE 802.16m) y la Factibilidad de Implementación en el Ecuador” tiene como objetivo analizar el estándar IEEE 802.16m y su implementación en nuestro país. Se da una breve introducción a la arquitectura de red IEEE 802.16m y las características generales de los sistemas IMT-Advanced tomando particularmente en cuenta aspectos como soporte de movilidad basado en IP móvil, uso eficiente de los recursos, paging, entre otros. Así mismo, se revisa rápidamente la estructura de protocolos 3GPP LTE LTE-Advanced. Luego se realiza un estudio de mercado tomando en cuenta la situación de las tecnologías 4G en el mundo, particularmente en América Latina. Se revisan las técnicas utilizadas para el estudio de mercado de telecomunicaciones y finalmente se hace un recuento de la situación entre LTE e IEEE 802.16m, la tendencia en uso de ambas tecnologías y algunas razones por las que se está prefiriendo LTE-Advanced sobre IEEE 802.16m. Para terminar se da una revisión de la situación del marco regulatorio en el país, en particular lo correspondiente a tecnologías 4G y un repaso de la regulación vigente relacionada con el servicio móvil avanzado. Abstract .- The present project titled "Study of WiMax2 (IEEE 802.16m) and its Feasibility of Implementation in Ecuador", has as aim analyze the IEEE 802.16m standard and its implementation in Ecuador. It starts with a review of the IEEE 802.16m network architecture and the generalities about IMT-Advanced systems, with emphasis in aspects such as; mobility support based on mobile IP framework, efficient use of radio resources, paging and so on. Also, there is a brief review of 3GPP LTE/LTE-Advanced protocol structure. Next is a market research taking in account the situation of 4G technologies in the world, especially in Latin America. The techniques utilized to make the telecommunications market research are reviewed, as well as a final recount of the situation between LTE and IEEE 802.16m with the trend of each one, and some reasons why LTE-Advanced is being preferred over IEEE 802.16m. Finally, there is a brief review about the regulatory framework in Ecuador, taking in account, particularly, the 4G technologies and the existing framework regarding the advanced mobile services.
